Plenty of awesome stuff left. If you haven't been watching volleyball you've been missing some downright sick play from Misty May and Kerri Walsh and the women's indoor team has looked pretty dominant too. Maroney may be the best vaulter in the world and it should be dissapointing to not get gold. I'm sure she was more upset with herself than anything. But damn be thankful for earning a medal at all. And the tiebreakers in gymnatics are downright stupid. The British gymnast on pommel horse basically is penalized for having a more difficult routine and has to settle for silver. Things I've tired of.... the insane amount of commercials and every Phelps interview or montage that is exactly the same as the last one. At least one of those things is over.
Heard some experts talking about it and they collectively said it's a big problem because no one tests you over the ban period. You get banned for 2 years and are essentially free to take all doping in the world and train like hell to be even better than before. That and him running 9.7x now should have everyone really, really suspicious.
She's 17. She might look older and wiser due to being 6'1'' (and twice the size of Bob Costas), but she's still 17. Gabby still has competition coming up. Missy Franklin is finished with her Olympics. My guess is the Gabby tribute video is coming up after she finishes her program.
I remember he tried out for some NFL teams, perhaps he was tested then? Just seems like he has a lot to lose to do it again. Plus, wouldn't he be tested now? I guess it depends on what he took and how long of an effect it would have. Perhaps his body isn't as worn out as most 30 year old sprinters because of the ban.
Testosterone was the thing. "In men, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle, bone mass, and the growth of body hair." Since Gatlin is still using his muscle and bones that had been developed with the help of this drug, he is getting the benefit from doping, for sure. but thats OK. What bothers me is: Ye Shiwen must be a doper because of China's history before she was born. Gatlin is clean because we must forget his own history of doping. Down with all the media.
NBC has improved since the 2000 Olympics. This time, 90% of the time they show competitions, but still they are terrible.
Maroneys behavior was an embarrassment. She was being a b**** and a total loser after she lost. Show some sportsmanship.
You could be right about Gatlin, but the circumstances for each are different, which is why she raised suspicions like she did. I think it has more to do with gender and less with being chinese.
Gabby is going to win gold again tomorrow, but this Chick will be the bigger star after the Olympics, book it. SMH. I am really hoping Gabby and her family benefit from her success in the games.
I didn't watch any interviews afterward but judging from her facial expression, I guess she was more embarrassed by the medal she won than the medal she lost. If you know what mean here.
That one soprano looking chick would have given Gabbie Douglas a good run for gold but again these are the Olympics and some can handle pressure while others can't like Maroney failed big time on the 2nd vault.. I think it was the lack of stamina because on her 1st vault she went full blast and flew higher than the sky...
I think they are worse. It seems like they are showing about the same amount of competition but are now filling up the other time with even more inane fluff.
Not trying to stir up the debate again, buy just because you don't blow away the field doesn't mean you are clean. A couple of athletes from some countries were tested positive and I don't think they have blown away anybody. American judo player Nicholas Delpopolo has been expelled from the Olympic Games after failing the drug test. I am not sure if he has or could've blown away his opponents, either. Bottom line is we should give all athletes the benefit of the doubt until proven guilty. I know Young-T would disagree, but this is the best we can do
I don't think Maroney was pissed she got silver. Seemed like she was dissappointed in her performance more than anything since she was the clear favorite.
Why don't they do uneven bar routines like this anymore: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7q2aU7oe_4M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YsiLsguqXBU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
That's a bad comparison though, how can you compare one of the top 100m sprinters in the world who runs sub 10sec to a 400IM swimming event, which take a much longer time to complete? The only 100m sprinter who can dust the competition is Bolt. And technically, Gatlin did smoke his competition, but it was in the prelims and semi.
