are you saying, small people shouldn't even bother with sports anymore? why bother be strong when bigger guys are already stronger? maybe people should just eat until everyone is 300+ lbs.
The same can be said to all the Rockets game discussion threads. People who watch on Sopcast usually get a couple of minutes lag compared with those who watch TV. but I rarely see people complain about others posting things like "OMG, Tmac hit a 3 at the buzzer, Rocktes win!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
My goodness it just must be too hard to spoiler. Those threads are dealing with one game, this thread is dealing with a multitude of different games that happen at different times and many, many people are not able to watch live. People don't complain in there you say but they have in here so what does that tell you? You might want to spoiler tag or you might want to be an ass and say I'm going to do what I want.
Even a Chinese politburo rep knows the difference between LeBron James and a badminton player. That's really not very subjective. Certainly far less subjective than which gymnast arched her back less on the parallel bars. This is just hypothetical anyway, political correctness prevents auto real discussion on what events are truly athletic and which are a matter of concentration and fitness.
Man, China is killing us. 43 golds to 26...that's sad. And almost 1/3 of ours were won by one dude. Sorry, but I don't care about the total medal count (i.e. 2nd & 3rd place)...or shall I say I think being #1 is more important.
we'll catch up. we'll win the 2 basketball golds from men/women. we'll win the indoor volleyball men and women. we'll win the women beach volleyball. we'll win a lot more track and field golds. and probably baseball. china is the dominant power in gymnastics and diving among sports that US doesn't focus in like badminton and things like that. though i have to admit, the judges robbed our females of some golds in gymnastics
well women's softball for sure. HOPEFULLY "some more" in track and field (track and field has been very disappointing for the US). isn't the men's baseball team in the semis right now? the olympics just have so many sports and most US kids focus on the popular ones. i mean, who the hell in America plays badminton, where china basically swept all the gold medals? we'll close the gap in the golds and have a big gap in overall medals. but i really care just about the main sport - BASKETBALL. hell if they add football to the olympics, we'll kill every country too.
For those of you concerned about medal counts, here is an interesting take. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/be...t/The-REAL-Olympic-medal-count?urn=oly,101537 Look, I don't know much about gymnastics, but I do know that landing a vault on two feet is better than landing one on two knees. Olympic gymnastics judges evidently disagree with me, as they awarded China's Cheng Fei a bronze medal yesterday even after she fell on her vault landing. American Alicia Sacramone finished fourth despite, you know, not falling. And today, <strike>12-year old</strike> 16-year old Chinese gymnast He Kexin won gold over Nastia Liukin based on an obscure tiebreaking rule. The two received the same score from the judges, but He won a tiebreak because an Australian judge apparently was watching a different competition. Every judging break seems to have gone China's way during these Olympics. I'm not suggesting a conspiracy, I just think that judges are humans who are influenced by big names, fans and other external factors. Oh, and they're also terrible. Judged events will always be viewed with skepticism by those who lose for this reason, particularly those who lose to a member of the home delegation. (Think Roy Jones Jr. at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.) It is because of this skewed inconsistency that Fourth-Place Medal introduces The Real 2008 Medal Count. Our medal count will tally medals won in sports decided on the field of play, not by a judge in a teal blazer. The judged Olympic events we will ignore for our tally are: boxing, diving, equestrian, gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, trampoline and wrestling. We debated whether to include boxing, wrestling and the martial arts in the list, as they can be decided by competitors. However, because the judging is prone to error and shenaningans, we will include it. The Real 2008 Medal Count China: 22 gold; 11 silver; 11 bronze United States: 21 gold; 19 silver; 21 bronze As you can see, in the events where medals are determined by competitors rather than judges, the gold medal gap between China and the U.S. is greatly narrowed, and the total medal count is an American runaway. Counting the judged events, China has a commanding lead in golds. Hmmm... Nope, nothing fishy about that!
I do not know about other sports, but when it comes to diving, NOBODY even comes close to China. It does not matter who the judges are , you got to give the gold metals to the Chinese.
lulz~ failure in journalism at its finest... anyway, nastia should have won, purely because she was the better eye candy
i never realized until this olympics, that how a certain group of americans are a bunch of whiners. just a group. not a shot at everyone.
