That's a poor analogy and you pointed it out in your post. Fans create the advantages. Judges, which determine the winners in these cases, are supposed to be unbiased that is why an athlete cannot have their own citizens judging.

    Fallacy!

Home court advantage regarding fan support is one thing. We're talking about judges. Now if you say that NBA refs are favored by home court advantage, then ok maybe they are. Still saying that doesn't make it right.

Home games are not supposed to be there so that judges/refs/umps who are supposed to be unbiased get to be biased.

Yeah I went back in the thread and found that article.

That second tiebreaker seems pretty flimsy to me...but oh well. Just award two gold medals.

do you actually think the chinese girl had as good a routine? they both screwed up a verticality thing and the other girl screwed up much more on the landing.

and why are we breaking ties with random tiebreakers. same score, same difficulty, who cares how you get there. just like oksana baiul beating kerrigan on a tiebreaker. we always get ****ed.

sports is NOT about home court advantage.

it's about being better than someone else on that given day. It's about fair and right competition, not where they play the game.

Nastia was better than He on that day.

sports is about home court advantage. that is the most stupidest **** i have ever heard.

    EVAAAAAAAAAAAAR heard.

The big question is why the IOC made it to where there couldn't be ties in gymnastics when there are ties in other sports.

In other gymnastics events, ties are allowed so it's not a sport specific problem.

judges can be influenced by the fans. it's pretty easy to feel the pressure when thousands of fans are cheering for home athletes. that's how that works. judges are human after all.

Hell, there was a rowing event where 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes were handed out today.

Exactly. And that's what we're arguing about. How they shouldn't be affected by the fans and pressure. Especially if they are supposed top level Olympic judges.

it's easier not to whine when you're the one cheating and getting away with it. barry bonds was probably tired of all the whiners, too.

but it's impossible if you are human. i personally would feel the pressure. i don't know how you can be leveled headed in that situation, regardless if they are Olympic judges. Olympic judges don't mean they are the best judges.

Correct. Fans should not affect judges, referees, officials, umpires, etc. They are all supposed to be unbiased.
