Actually I think what's stupid is that these professional athletes have so much trouble sometimes putting a stick into the hands of the person in front of them. It's such a fundamental skill but it seems to be overlooked when and if these runners practice the relays. See stick, hold stick, put stick into teammates hand. Sure there's greater difficult because you're in motion; but if you keep your eyes on that open hand until your teammate firmly has their grip on it, there shouldn't be a problem.
Only problem with that...well a couple of hiccups actually...the flag could fall off when they're running and it's pretty difficult to grab a flag around a person's waist when they're running...you have to bend down to get to it and it's flapping all over the place. Personally I think it'd be much harder to do that than to pass a baton.
They didn't even have great exchanges and still destroys the world record by .3 secs! That's what happens when you have 9.69 and 9.74 speed on your last two legs. Unbelievable.
Your image of it is not what I was thinking. My idea is the person waiting to be tagged has the flag on their waist and the person tagging just pulls it off signifying a tag, no one should be running around with a flag except for the handoff part. And there is modern technology called velcro so the flag won't fall from waist until someone rips it off. And make it a cloth or like material so it won't be flapping all over the place.
Baseball Results: Men's Bronze-Medal Game United States vs Japan Spoiler US takes the bronze by the score of 8-4
Yeah that's true...the only people with the flags on would be the next person to go and they are not running yet, well at least not until their teammate gets close to them; but still once they have to start running to get up to speed any number of things could happen. I actually use straps and football flags that use velcro in my classes...things happen, the flags and straps can come undone if not attached properly; and it wouldn't surprise me any if something like that happened, considering some of these teams have trouble handing a baton from one person to the next. Plus, I don't think it's gonna matter what type of material you use for the strap, it's gonna flap around...not from any wind, but more so because of your body moving. Believe me, it's not that easy to pull those things off. Plus, whereas with a baton, you really just need to feel it in your hand, grab it and go...with a flag you would either have to look back or trust that you'll be able to hear your teammate yelling that they pulled it, because you might not feel it being ripped off yourself. Really it just comes down to the fact that these teams probably do not practice together as much as they should.
Argentina has just won a gold medal in Men's Football after beating 1996 Olympic Gold Medal Winner Nigeria 1-0 thru Di Maria Goal utilizing an assist from Lionel Messi..... Love seeing these Nigerians worked very hard to rival the Argentinians skill...........unfortunately Anichebe could not capitalize a couple of golden opportunity..
No real surprise, but more boxing controversies. If you saw the fight, Vastine was absolutely robbed. Lots of odd scoring in other matches as well. http://au.sports.yahoo.com/olympics...pics-judging-scandal-rocks-boxing-competition They should just get rid of Olympic boxing, it's pretty much a joke.
I agree that the boxing scoring system is extremely r****ded. Either bring in judges who know what the hell they are doing or just make it a 5 rounder and score each round. Alot of boxers got robbed this year.
Thailand has just won its second gold medal ...in boxing flyweight after Jongjohor impressively manhandles Laffita Hernandes of Cuba 8-2 with nice display of footwork and agility. Meanwhile second gold in boxing was won by Lomachenko of Ukraine in Featherweight after beating Khedafi (France) TKO in the first round by putting in 9 points in just 90 seconds...impressive.
who was Vastine fighting? i think it was a Cuban fighter right? anyways, i think what happened was, he was so frustrated with the ref in the fight that he didn't fight well in the end. earlier he was fighting well. it's just sad how a ref can change the emotion of a fighter during the fight. also, i just can't understand, why body shots are not worth any points? that Chinese fighter, Silamu Hanati, goes to body all the time. he did not get a single freaking point in the last 2 rounds, despite being one of the better fighters. boxing without body shot is a freaking joke. of course, some chinese fighers got favored too. just shows how bad the refs are. inconsistent. it's another case of ****ty scoring system. i believe they have 5 refs that have to push the button right after each scoring punch. if 3/5 pushed, then it's a point. i can't understand why they can't use replay during each round to check out the scoring punches. a bunch of incompetent refs.
