Good points. I would say this combined with performance enhancing drugs has created this collapse of U.S. track and field teams.
how do you know it's the entire organization? some coach may made up an age (assuming she is not 15/16, not proven yet) and reported it. in that case, you can ban the coach forever. it's not like the entire organization are on this. and as a country? you are ****ing kidding me right? you think everybody there gives a **** about gymnastics? also, what if her parents lied about her age so she could gain advantage? you really have no proof of anything, yet you went straight on blaming the government. it's an individual or a few individuals on this issue, if she is indeed underage. besides, jones isn't the only one in US that uses steroids. there are countless ones we don't know yet. and an organization is responsible for distribution. they should just ban everyone, and as an organization, for not preventing this from happening. her husband and coach was in it too. just ban the entire organization.
Damn how the hell do those Chinese divers go into the water like that....I feel like I'm watching Coneheads.
i ****ing hate these chinese divers. they're the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. i think i have seen them do about 25 dives at this point and on 23 of them there was absolutely no splash. only 2 (!) have i seen any sort of splash, and barely at that. i'm really not sure they're human. did you see that final dive? that was the cleanest entry i've just about ever seen and it was for the gold. ridiculous.
OMG!!!!! I thought I was the only one thinking of that movie. LOL! Chinese divers are freaking awesome.
That final dive for the gold medal by Chen Ruolin was spectacular. She has icewater in her veins. WOW! WOW! WOW! Sick! Sick! Sick!
how is possible to keep the splash so minimum? it's like a few bubbles. somethings human can do that's just amazing.
One of the Chinese coaches sort of invented that non-splash entry (maybe 20 years ago). Then the technique started to be used by Canadians and Aussies etc, when more Chinese coaches migrated to other countries.
Do you not see the irony in your statement. Don't if I'd take away the golds from those girls...but I would put the Chinese Women's Gymnastics team on probation and perhaps ban them from the next world championships...if this investigation finds anything substantial.
Can someone tell me why the US is the only country going with the total medals ranking while everyone else is ranking by golds? As I understand it, the US went with the total golds ranking in every previous olympics but magically decided to change it for this one? What's the reasoning behind that again?
They need to spread the love...to the US. Our diving, outside Laura Wilkinson in Sydney, has kind of sucked for awhile.
Really? It was to my understanding that they always went with total medals, it just didn't matter because the US would be winning in both gold and total. It doesn't really matter though, I'm pretty sure everyone would see the rank and realize that it's flawed this time.
So far, Jones was proven as isolated incident, although her coach and husband were involved. Therefore, you can't just go out and ban the whole US track & field team. So far, He was not officially proven to be underaged. Even if she is proven guilty in the near future, and if you found out her coach or family or the local sports authority were involved, how could you just ban the whole Chinese team? What's the irony in this? Next time, some Chinese immigrant commits a crime in US, all ethnic Chinese should be put into jail?
NBC does list the rankings by total medals...but to be fair, every time I've heard them comment on the medal count they US leads in total medals but China still has a commanding lead in Golds.
why would you ban the entire team? the way the system works is that, local/provincial teams train at their base. and the national team would scout and pick the best ones. if the local team coach wants to gain some fame, and reported the fake age, how would the national team know? national team don't go around picking kids at birth. besides, younger athletes get more attention, so if some greedy parents reported to the local coach a wrong age, you would ban the entire national team? what happened to innocent until proven guilty? in a country that would let OJ Simpson off the hook, you guys already 100% sure that a young girl is underage by looking at her? IF, a big IF, that the girl is indeed underage, it would make sense to ban her coach from competition, i don't care how long. in developing nations, a lot athletes are reporting fake age. so you are saying, if you find a couple, you ban the entire team? i don't think so.
Exonerating one country on the basis of lack of proof while simultaneously indicting another despite any evidence as well.
