I hate the "foul" strategy. It took like 30 minutes to play the final 2 minutes of the Miami Texas game. The score looks closer than the anal rape that was handed out.
Butler has only themselves to blame. I watched that game from start to finish... they missed 10-15 shots within two feet of the basket. And for a team with such great shooters, they had an incredible ability to routinely make only 1-of-2 from the line. To me, Butler is clearly a superior team to Tennessee... but they absolutely beat themselves. Louisville should have a pretty easy time with Tennessee.
Not just that game... about half of them... it is really horrifying to watch, but I'm sure the advertisers love it. I'm ready for a rule change. You have to put a player in the penalty box each time he commits and intentional foul.
I agree Butler blew it with missed layups, but the refs treated Tennessee like UCLA the last 3-4 minutes of the game. It was terrible. The worst non-call was at the end of regulation where Green should have been going to the FT line at the end of regulation for the win. Someone please post a picture of that hack-job non-call. Prior to that, anytime a Butler player grazed a Tennessee player, they got whistled.
Yeah, that was part of the reason I had them beating Gonzaga and Georgetown. I've seen them a lot this year, and they proved that they could play with the big boys. Plus, that 20+ game win streak had them going into the tournament with confidence. Also, I just didn't drink the G-town Kool Aid this year. I think the loss of Jeff Green was huge for them. Hibbert couldn't typically take over a game the way they needed him to. All in all, a great story that will pick up more steam over the next week heading into the sweet 16.
Sweet 16 Game Times announced for the games at Reliant. I believe these are central times: Thursday, March 27 6:10 PM West Virginia vs. Xavier (West Regional) 6:27 PM Washington State vs. North Carolina (East Regional) 8:40 PM Western Kentucky vs. UCLA (West Regional) 8:57 PM Louisville vs. Tennessee (East Regional) Friday, March 28 6:10 PM Davidson vs. Wisconsin (Midwest Regional) 6:27 PM Stanford vs. Texas (South Regional) 8:40 PM Villanova vs. Kansas (Midwest Regional) 8:57 PM Michigan State vs. Memphis (South Regional) UT with the early game? And has any team ever been in a position with the final four tourney games in their home state?
Hopefully it's a good omen... UT had the early game in 2003 when they were in the Sweet 16 of the San Antonio Regional.
I've been looking for these...where did you find them? I need to confirm the times of the games that are here.
ok..those are central time? know the time of the game on sunday? i have tickets! trying to make weekend plans!
Unfortunately that hasn't been released yet, but it'll be either 1:30 or 3:45 Central. 3:45 was actually listed for Houston on an NCAA document, but I'm thinking that was just placeholder text -- CBS usually waits until they have the matchups (late Friday night) and puts the higher-profile game in the later slot.
Not to mention, towards the end the loose ball foul that was called an offensive foul so the Aggies didn't get two free throws.

My boss brought up a good point. He said refs are human. You go into the game knowing and accepting their flaws. Refs blow calls. Refs "make up" calls. They're not perfect. Overall calls (or no calls) even out over time. One no call didn't blow this game for the Aggies. If you put yourself in a position that you need this call, you already lost.
