Red Sox in 4. And this from someone who hates all northeastern teams with a passion, too.

Red Sox Nation will cheer, giving their many thanks to the Babe for smiling upon them at last. But, then, Ruth will go, "Huh? They won? Oh, my bad. I wasn't paying attention." and the Red Sox will go another 85 years without a championship.

Come on this is the Hangout. The World Series is fair game. Hell, I found out the other night that animations of necrophiliatic, murder rampages are fair game too.... wait. Um.... forget I said anything.

    :starts walking slowly away:

    Uh oh.

    :starts running:

Run, Sox fans. He's got an ax! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    :Thunk:

I hold a dim view of American League baseball period - I will not cheer for them under anything but extraordinary situations(Mets, Cubs, Marlins).

I hold an even dimmer view of the $120 million "underdogs".

not really. i love the rockets but i'm not a houston only fan. ozzie smith and the cards were the first professional team i cheered for after learning to watch sports when i moved from china to missouri at age 7. as much as i love the red sox now (went to school and work in boston), i'll always be a cards fan first and foremost.

sorry if it offends all the astros fans in this forum. i would have totally cheered for the astros against the yankees but i mean this is my dream world series right now. kind of a win-win situation really. although i will be a little sad if the cards lose.

Yip, it's alright. We're all a little peeved after our thumping out of the playoffs. Just kind of pissed to see a Cards/Red Sox series...

I wonder if Tavarez is going to punch his fist with one of those Fenway Park phones.

    UN-Official W.S. Poll thread

This first game is a slugfest.... and yet eerily boring. :(

EDIT: Sox up 1-0, taking game one, 11 to 9 -highest scoring game 1 in W.S. history  &

I can't get into this, but it was an entertaining game otday. The Red Sox are so loaded on offense that it is ridiculous. I hate to see a team that is so fundamentally unsound win, but it looks like this will be the case. If the Red Sox pick up Carl Pavano next year, and he has been lobbying for it, the Red Sox may not have to wait another year before another World Series title.

    Red Sox in six.

Despite the lousy game play, the ending turned out great. Sox win and Tavarez is still an ass.

Even my Red Sox fan friends are getting BORED by this World Series.

They never expected to lose yesterday (even though STL came back numerous times)... and today, they were brimming with confidence at the prospects of facing "Matty Mo" on short rest in Fenway.

Looks like they were right. They also said that the Astros would have gave them a better competition... but that reminded me of all those Cubs saying that they would have been the "team nobody wanted to face" in the postseason...

I for some reason can't get all that excited. It is like the ALCS took everything out of me.

However, I do like the Cardinals a lot (they are my favorite NL team - I did not want to reveal that during the NLCS and can you blame me?:p ), so that probably is playing a big part of it.

But there has been little screaming at the TV by me so far in these 1.75 games.

I am very upset by the Sox making 4 errors for the 2nd straight game. Remarkable that committing 8 errors so far hasn't really hurt them.
