This is very similar to the shooting of Tamir Rice. Although it doesn’t sound like Tamir Rice actually pointed the air soft at the LEO.
Ok it's crazy alright. So many guys like that hurt or kill more people while on parole. Regardless, that has nothing to do with this. He shouldn't have died like that.

So what you are saying, if this individual was a model citizen, you'd be ready to throw the book at the officer? Is that correct?
It's human nature. If I'm a juror, I'm less likely to throw the book at someone if the victim chokes women vs if they are a church deacon. Do I want to ruin the life of someone who used excessive force on a guy who chokes women?
It sucks that you are not willing to look at the issues separately since their history should not excuse the behavior of the cop, however, I am glad you do acknowledge it was excessive force.
It's telling too that he was actually assaulting the LEO too by dragging him and hitting him with a hammer yet was still taken alive.
Context was already established that Potter felt some sort of force was needed but specifically thinking she had a taser shows that she didn't believe deadly force was needed. No one is disputing that Wright had an outstanding warrant. It's possible what that warrant was for might not even be presented to the jury as not being directly relevant to the facts of the case.
If that person took the persons life "who chokes women" negligently yes. Let's not act like she was stopping him from chocking a woman when she shot him. In a court of law this will not be admitted and the officers most likely did not know the details of the case only that he had a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor.
The outstanding warrant is HUGELY relevant. It's the reason why Wright was resisting arrest and wrestling with the police -- dude didn't want to go to prison.
Easy. Because she found herself in a fight with Wright, had to react quickly and under life-or-death pressure, and made a fast (and unfortunately, bad) decision as a result. How is this not obvious? Even trained police officers can panic under life-or-death pressure. And if you are fighting with a physically more powerful man with outstanding warrants... trying to take him to jail, then you can bet that you are in SERIOUS danger. ANYONE's thinking becomes severely impacted by that.

This was a not split second decision. She had her firearm out for at least 6 seconds before she fired. This wasn't a one on one confrontation between Potter and Wright. There were three other LEO in the same location including one that was attempting to hand cuff Wright. An LEO that is trusted with lethal weapons who panics to the point of mistaking her own firearm with her taser is a danger to everyone including other LEO.
