I thought the guy can actually shoot based on a few games I watched last two years. I like him as our bench spark for 4, but we already have the same player in Padget, Bowen. Maybe we can swap Bowen, or Padget for him?
Houston trades: SF Ryan Bowen (1.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.1 minutes) Houston receives: SF Luke Walton (1.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 8.6 minutes) Change in team outlook: +0.3 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and +0.6 apg. L.A. Lakers trades: SF Luke Walton (1.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 8.6 minutes) L.A. Lakers receives: SF Ryan Bowen (1.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.1 minutes) Change in team outlook: -0.3 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -0.6 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Actually, it is wrong to say Luke is doing terriable here in LA. He just does not get to do anything. He has been benched by the coach, RudyT, most of the games. But when he gets a few minutes he usually plyas well. For example, last night in a loss to the Sonics, Luke played 19 munites and scoreed 19 points. He seemed to be the only player that could shoot last night. Again, even though he played so well, Rudy played him for only 19 munites. Luke will play for some team if it is not the Lakers next season.
Nice, but LA will only trade Luke to get rid of the glut at SF. They don't want another SF in return. They can get better
You can always tell who doesn't know jack about basketball and just uses this forum to vent. Luke's a baller and has been ever since the Arizona days. He hasn't shot under 40% since he's been in the league, and that is impressive considering his limited minutes. He also not only played well, but excelled last year in the playoffs. He'd make our team better no doubt.
I'm all for this... I say get him at all costs. I'm pretty sure if we have him on our team we probably won't have to listen to Bill Walton's commentary during games. Seems like he doesn't work the Laker's games does he? Isn't he always on the sidelines? warning. my logic may be flawed.
Tough to say about Luke Walton. If the Lakers traded him, Bill Walton might no longer schlob the Lakers' knob (can I get away with writing that? ahem) And the Lakers wouldn't want the Rockets to get any sort of advantage over them, even in something as insignificant as trading the team's 5th small forward. That's the thing about the Fakers. They're all swingmen, with Lamar Odom as the "power" forward and Brian Grant, when healthy, as the center. So, are Walton's low numbers the result of being down the pecking order? Rudy never liked developing players (or maybe he's leaving that to the dad; anyway, do you play Walton over Odom, Butler, KOBE [when healthy], um, what's that one dude's name? who hails from Minnesota? brain fart, so sorry). Or do we have an overinflated sense of Walton's value because he has played well against us (at least he did last year)? The kid seems to have a nice touch on the pass.
On a side note: I respect yall's opinion, but am I the only person that actually likes Bill Walton? He's the greatest announcer of all time!!
*shakes his head sadly* If wasn't for the tie die and the fact that he listens to some cool music, my stomache churning disrespect for the fellow just might have blossomed into full blown gastrious hatred.
damn. thought I invented a word. apparently not http://www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&lr=&newwindow=1&safe=off&q=gastrious
Wlaton is shooting a lot better than Wesley. He also brings size and passing to our lineup. T-Mac will be back at the 2 with Wesley and Barry comes off the bench. Get him.
