2nd game in a row where the OL was thrashed. May need to start thinking about using Patterson and Fisher if it doesnt improve real soon.
Something has to change, its every week........as Seth said on his podcast, do they realize they are the weak link? Step up and play like your paid, we can't live in 3rd and 10+ every drive and have CJ running for his life. So frustrating, I cant wait to see how the staff addresses this and finds a way to fix it, otherwise it will be a long year and I am not down for that..............................I have faith in this staff and this team to bounce back, sucks to be the Jags next week cause we fixin to ROLL BABY
Blake should take snaps at RT this week and even start against the Jags. Green and Scruggs are in essence red shirt freshman. They’re young so they have that excuse. Like it or not but Tunsil isn’t getting replaced. Tytus Howard tho should absolutely get demoted. I don’t think RT can be any worse with a rookie starting tbh. Plus it shows the young guys that accountability is a thing on this team.
The Texans have a bottom third tier line. They are giving up sacks. They also can't run block against good defenses. What are they actually good at? Somehow its turned in to the worst unit on the team. It 100% costs the team the game yesterday.
Saw a tweet from Lance that Tunsil's penalties are not the cause for the loss. I beg to differ. It played a huge role. We were already aware that the Vikings defense knew every one of CJ's favorite Bible verse. The average 3rd down conversion % in the league is 39% and that's 3rd and 5 - 3rd and 9. I imagine it decreases even more when it's 3rd and 11+ It's demoralizing converting on 3rd and long 3x only for the completions to get called back resulting in 3rd and infinity. One area CJ can improve on is making that 1 yard pass in the backfield through traffic. KC gets 7 yards just on that play taken from Joe Montana's Football on the Sega Genesis. You ain't slick, Andy. Tunsil is supposed to be a Captain.
I think I’m at a point with Tunsil that I would be willing to move on from him. Here is why: At what point is his elite pass blocking countered by his inability to avoid flags. He is constantly responsible for stalling drives. This isn’t a 3 week thing. This is a career defining characteristic of Laremy Tunsil. He costs us yesterday but was also very much responsible for stalled drives in the playoffs. Do you trust him to clean it up when the games matter? I certainly don’t. He is putting CJ in third and long consistently each game. His run blocking is below average. The Texans with their current construction will never be able to push piles. This team needs a new identity up front if they want to run a WC offense. The biggest issue though, is that his mindset does not match the one Demeco and CJ have. Yet Tunsil is the highest paid player on the team. That’s not healthy for the culture or the team. Your highest paid player doesn’t take accountability, doesn’t like to practice, doesn’t like to work hard(he got called out by CJ on the pivot). Get his ass off the team. He’s soft and a diva. Trade him to the Bears. They need help. Get a first and a third. We can draft the kid from LSU. Strong run blocker with great feet/mechanics. This OL is regressing! We all see it. It’s time to get these diva tackles out of the locker room as they don’t fit the swarm culture whatsoever.
I've been there for awhile. He's not a well-rounded LT, he's elite at pass blocking, but below average as a run blocker and a disaster penalty machine. Problem is this is worst time to trade him. Should've been done in the off-season. Not sure putting our rookie at LT is the right answer, but hell maybe he can line-up correctly at least and we can use a TE or RB to help him.
Tytus can play LT. He actually did a great job there for 4 or 5 games a few seasons back when Tunsil was out. Bring in Fisher on the right side. Now obviously we are all panicking a little bit which is ok. A few more games need to play out, but even at this point I doubt we could get a 1st for LT so its a battle with sunk costs as the season wears on.
