Ah so they called the pushoff on Sengun with his off arm, which I thought was more of a balance in the air thing and less of a push off. Or did they just call it a player control foul on Sengun going through his chest? Because Collins was WAY MOVING when he jumped.....he was sliding sideways, as a former ref, I had it as a blocking foul. DD
hmmmmmm thats why many quit, cuz nba no longer give a shiiit about the core value of competitive sports - sportsmanship, which is many of those thinks much of in good old days. When everything all about entertainment, meme culture get going naturally n vibrantly…
Sengun gave that dude whiplash if I got dunked on like that, I’m retiring immediately and moving to the Himalayas to become a monk
Nothing will top that Spurs game where the refs wouldn't acknowledge a made dunk and Morey filed a protest. Well... maybe the Warriors 2018 game 6 where Klay undercut shooters 5 times and it was never called in spite of being "a flagrant 1 area of emphasis".
That's been an "and 1" dunk for as long as I can remember watching basketball. Total hose job by the refs. In an alternate world where no other player has ever served up a facial like that, I might be able to see a slight push off but that still gets obliterated by the defensive contact and the fact that he left his feet in a non vertical manner. Total screw job.
If that was Lebron, Tatum or someone of that nature it would have been called different. Oh well, Collins got owned by Sengun on that regardless
I think Sengun was getting under the refs skin with all his whining about everything during the game and this was the result. DD
The irony is look at KPJ at the top of the arc, he was calling for the ball and was pissed when Sengun didn't pass it to him.
Silas should have gotten himself ejected over that call. He just sat there and listened with his goofy smile. Stand up for your players. The team felt totally defeated after that.
The rule: On a block-charge type play, a secondary defensive player cannot be in a legal guarding position, even if stationary, inside the “Restricted Area” if the offensive player receives the ball outside the lower defensive box — unless he jumps vertically in an attempt to defend the shot. Therefore, even if positioned inside the Restricted Area, a secondary defender does not commit a blocking foul if contact is made while he is jumping vertically in an attempt to defend. The defender must, however, establish legal guarding position prior to the start of the offensive player’s upward motion. Collins was still moving into Sengun's path and was not vertical when Sengun started his upward motion. He did not get vertical until right before the contact while he was in the air. For it to not be a block he would need to be in place and vertical before Sengun began his upward motion. Should have been a block. Or at worse a no call. No way that should be an offensive foul
Awful call, he had the off arm up but didn’t extend it. The aggressor should be rewarded unless he extends the arm. Shouldn’t the league want more highlight plays like this?
lol maybe i'm misremembering but this feels like the first time Silas has ever used a challenge for Alpi.
I don’t think it’s really worth it to make our own judgement call on a play that was challenged and went to review. At that point, the official NBA rulebook implementers (as a team of officials) are disagreeing with your take. It’s a BS call, because that call is seldom made on such powerful poster dunks.
I still don't understand with how a non-explosive, unathletic guy who cannot jump made that dunk. He threw it in too, Dwight Howard style!!
Monks accept humility, but even they don't accept that weak mess on the court .... (credit to r/photoshopbattles)
