The Spurs also have the personnel to make Popavich look great. They have a PG who doesn't need to create for others. Instead he can just attack the bucket. They have Finley and Ginobili who are good 3 point shooters and are capable of creating their shot anywhere on the floor. Those are the type of people we lack. I said it before and I'll say it again. I feel we need a Jerry Stackhouse, Finley, or even a James Posey type player, someone who can shoot the 3 and also attack the basket, and our team will be that much better.

most of that is because yao is in the high post...which is double edged sword.

Not only. He is now able to drive one on one with his defender and make an easy position for himself. I means he's a lot quicker and that makes him better cause he doesn't need to cut without the ball. He can make his defender off the dribble with no troubles. He couldn't do that last season

Are you kidding with this thread? This "where the motion?' thread is about as weak and unfounded as the "where's Steve?" thread.

You can't just walk up to a 52-win team and tell them, "IK guys...that stuff that got 52 wins last year, and what you've been playing the last four or five years...scap that."

Adelman's offense is simplistic in its basic form. But it gets more complicated as its layers are uncovered. There are several layers involved in his offense that come in the form of different reads and options that require more team basketball. All players will have to master the offense. This will take time.

I think Adelman has resorted to running essentially the same offense as in the past beause he doesn't have a sacricial season to give away so that everyon learns the offense the way he ultimately wants them to.

Now, I nest season we are still running the same stuff...then this thread should be at the top of the list...not FOUR games into the season!

I'll look for the article but I believe that it was after the Lakers game when Adelman made the comment about running some plain NBA plays. Even during the telecast, I can remember one of the analyst speaking on it. You must realize that Adelman's system is very difficult to learn. IMO, We typically have alot of High IQ and High Bball IQ guys. So them having a tough time adapting should tell you something. Also, RA is probably trying to fit his system in while not taking out Yao's effectiveness in the low post. Give it time people.

I don't deal with stats much. How are the +/- scores on Shane, Hayes, Rafer, T-Mc, Yao, Scola, James and Bonzi?

You're dead wrong on that one. Yao is and will be just as good as or a better passer than Sabonis/Vlade ever were. He's got an exceptional court awareness. Scola at the other high post will be a good passing complement as well.

I see the foundation of the motion offense being implemented with flashes of a true one, but it will take this entire season before we see real progress. This system requires the players executing it to have an above average intelligence and above average skill level. I think about 70% of our players are there. By next season we will be able to better staff Rick's system and therefore execute it.

Kinda like Freshman in a college motion offense. Takes a long time before the coaches let them play. Only after they figure out the motion offense do they have a go at it.

LOL no, if anything Yao is as good as Vlade and Sabonis were at passing, and calling them even is pushing it. Yao does have the court awareness, but his passing his average.

Probably need at least a month for the flow to come in. I say give it time. Yes right now it is ugly. I don't know why people are so crazy about the 4-1 record. If anything, we just beat a listless spurs. Any, time will tell the truth, if after all-star break, we still play like this, i am sure RA will be gone.

You've got to be kidding, right? We beat the Defending Champs, beat the Utah Jazz on the road for the first time in years, and beat a Lakers team that then beat Phoenix and Utah after losing to us.

What are you looking for? I'm really curious what you think is ugly about our play other than too many turnovers.
