Combo between Adelman in, MJ in, and V-span out. If we can get a power forward at the level of a guy like Drew Gooden or so I think this will have been a fantastic offseason. Essentially you already have the addition of Bonzi and MJ.

I think the Bonzi and Mike James additions are very underrated. We all kno what Bonzi is capable of, and waht kind of matchup problems he presents for teams, and now under a coach that brought out the best in him, and motivated by a contract, and also having a defined role on the team.

The Mike James aquisition was very valuable. Not only did we get a point guard, who is a very good outside shooter/ 3 pt shooter, a guy that can create his own shot and score 25 a night if needed with attiude, we also got rid of a useless washed up Juwan Howard.

The best one will be when rafer goes and you commit Username-icide, though I guess if James addition didn't do it, nothing's going to.

The chicken littles of the world are trying to carry the day. Why not, this is the way of the BBS.

The glass is half full and getting fuller. I thing getting MJ and Bonzi is huge. Name one rookie guard better than either of them right now.

Let me get this straight, didn't most people here want to get ride of JH? He's gone with his contract. That's a great move.

OK, they are now weak at PF. They need to get a starting PF. They will resign Chuck and the new PF should be serviceable. That's a upgrade to the PF spot. Yao is a year better, thats a upgrade to the Center spot. I can saftely say the PG position is upgraded. And with TMAC now very hungry, the SG spot is an upgrade to me. And the SF spot with Battier will be much better with a coach who will install a motion offense. It's going to give Battier a new lease on life. No more standing at the 3pt line and waiting. He can do so much more. Just watch.

So, I believe the team has improved and with a new coach, yah.

It seems like I have heard more crap about the Rockets being stuck with Juwan Howard and how he was the worst starting PF in the league. How many people talked about him being worth less than a jock strap and no way the Rockets could trade him for any value? Well we traded him for some very real value and an upgrade at the guard position and now all of a sudden we have a this huge hole that was left by Howard that Morey just has to fill during the 1st few days of free agency.

We still have our starting PF from last season and not one single free agent that would significantly upgrade the position. And yet people are wanting Morey to panic and over pay for someone like Darko who has done even less than JHo or someone like Amir Johnson who is clearly still a project.

And how about Carl Landry? For those of us that wanted Big Baby or Fezekas he does all the things those two did with similar numbers except he has superior athleticism to Davis or Fazekas. He has decent size for a power forward as well almost 6'9" and 250 lbs which is about the same size as Carlos Boozer. And before people start arguing his size please remember that those numbers come from both Rockets private work out as well as the combine for all of the draft prospects this year.

I am all for aquiring a veteran PF through a trade but but lets not get dissapointed because it has not happened by the 5th day of free agency.

We still have TMac, Head and Alston. We have added James and resigned Bonzi. Granted Bonzi had a bad year last season but it was his only bad season in about the last 9 so I personally am willing to give the guy a mulligan. I think he is still a far superior option to anything else we might get in free agency or trade.

Last year when we got Bonzi we were all pretty excited. Had we managed to get both Bonzi and Mik James last summer then we would have been planning the parade at the end of the season. Well, now we have them both. I'm pretty damn excited about that.

How have we lost direction and focus? We were the very first team out of the gate to make a meaningfull trade...plus it strengthened a position of weakness for us. We made the first move to identify and hire the coach we wanted that played the style we wanted to play and grabbed him before anyone else had a chance.

So you consider Phoenix signing a 35 year old player that has spent more time in hospitals than on the court during his career a big upgrade?

Some how you think by SA maintaining their satus quo that they have somehow strenthened there position further ahead of us?

So you somehow think that Utah's draft of Morris Almond is somehow going to be this big upgrade that Houston did not get from the draft?

And you think by Dallas adding rookie Nick Fazekas (drafted after Carl Landry) that somehow they have moved further ahead of us?

None of the teams you mentioned has done as much as the Rockets to improve their team so far during the off season. Sounds to me like you are jilted because you don't get to read about a block buster trade ever day by the Rockets.

From my point of veiw they have done a pretty damn good job so far this off season. And I am certainly willing to wait a year or two before I start grading this years draft.

THis offseason has been a bust so far

We acquired no one via the draft nor trade who will make a substantial difference at our two weakest positions - pf and pg.

We picked up a guy in the draft that will do nothing.
We reacquired a fellow who didn't help us before.
We don't have a freakin powerfoward that can score more then 4 points a game or play 30 minutes.

Unless Stevie comes back and somehow we get a decent power foward, expect business as usual next year.

I'm assuming you're referring to Bonzi here otherwise I guess you must have missed the 04/05 season post-trade deadline.

I can't start threads, so maybe someone can copy and paste this one, but Hoopsworld was talking about possible trades and it mentioned Camby being available, and that Head is someone the Nuggets have wanted for over a year(They tried to trade Najera for Head last time). Now, just a Hoopsworld RUMOR and MY speculation, but that could mean that our next PF is going to be Camby. I was thinking Luther Head, Sura's contract and possibly another player like Kirk Snyder to help match Camby's contract.... IMO this is a trade that should be done. Camby next to Yao and Mutumbo when Yao is tired or in foul trouble is intriguing as hell. The guy is very versatile and could play C if Mutumbo gets hurt. Once again this is rumor, but I know other Rockets fans can appreciate the subtle hints here: Denver is unloading Camby, the Rockets need a PF, and Denver loves Luther Head....

Makes sense, but there is truth in the last part of what I wrote. Denver really is intrigued by Head, and Camby would be an awesome addition

It’s been a fairly uneventful summer so far, but the best move, in my opinion, has been the draft. I know absolutely nothing about the players drafted, but the fact that Morey didn’t trade away the pick for another veteran, like last year, and actually gained additional draft picks pleases me. It’s good to know that he is thinking about the future and is not just looking to add more stop gap players like the Rockets have done the past couple of seasons.
