Couple of thoughts… 1. Interesting little thread title Doc … LOL 2. I have no doubts that Doc’s pipeline is legitimate and accurate. I did have some concerns about why my sources were not as adamant about Ming’s destiny as his. I have sources that are still telling me (within the last 24 hours) that Ming is still “not a sold deal” to the Rockets, and can be had via trade without those Odom, Kandi,#8, #12, next years #1, and the first male born of top executives scenarios … that seems to be making the rounds in rumorville these days.. But, I say again … I believe Doc and his people’s take on this. 3. I do not think that Doc or me or anyone else that I respect on this board is being told something false for some nefarious “spin drift” to excel or accelerate the “real quest” of some surreptitious back room deal. I know such things occur in sports and other avenues of commerce and trade … but frankly … it seems to be a reach to extend it to the lengths that the conspiracy theorists here seem to want us to travel. 4. Heypartner is a friend and fanatical Rocket who definitely doesn’t always agree with me. He is fiery and sarcastic to a fault. But then that is his foreplay for debate. His motives are usually aimed at getting the disclaimer to prove their theory if they reject his own. This bespeaks of his adept ability at debate. Indeed it is a requirement in most “argument” circles on this board. As to his colorful attempts to bash those round pegs into square holes …. well that’s how he puts things into reference and he does so with startling energy … if not clarity … at times. He is very basketball savvy and rarely does he open his mouth that he isn’t willing to backup what he says with the very last breath left in his body. And, no doubt when taken to those extremes, he would likely do so while firmly planting his tongue in his cheek and middle finger held high for all to ponder. But, with that being said, I cannot ever recall thinking he was jealous of anything I had said or posted. Well … we were talking about something one time and it turned into a real pissing contest … but I thought his moaning and whining was less envy over how far I could arc it … than the fact I had difficulty while holding mine with a single hand …. 5. But then before I can defend him in this thread ... he writes …. “ That's it. I'm leaving this bbs....and I'm NEVER EVER coming back. I've been insulted for the last time. I deserve more respect.” Now … that was uncalled for … still jealous over that length thing huh? Ya know … you just have to get over it. Some need two hands some a pair of tweezers … it’s God’s joke. Well in your case …. a chuckle. A very, very little chuckle. LOL – BTW: I will take you up on that game some time, but I have a hectic, I mean hectic schedule for the next year. 6. Last thing … this business of Cuttino or Francis getting all wrapped up in the pre draft talks and the ... should they be allowed “to comment” or to “no comment” controversy … It’s two players of a sports franchise giving their own take on a draft and a player that will be drafted … they can say whatever they want … What they said IMHO anyway, was not that outlandish. .They will be on board after the decision has been made Any other speculation about - if they should be allowed to do that , or if they should be censured, etc … is baloney. They can and did make their feelings known and if Ming ends up here they will have some nice things to say about him and that will be that. No harm, no foul.
It's obvious that the Rockets want Ming, but they are pushing the idea that they are willing to make a trade if they receive the right offer. It's also well know that they want to unload salary. Put this all together in a can and spin it around and my gut tells me that this is all a smokescreen to get the Bulls to bite on a trade so we can unload salary and still select Ming with the #2 pick. Since the Bulls are under the cap how does the #1 and Rice sound for the #2. and Crawford.
Although I seldom agree with anything say, you have a profound effect on the Rocket things I think about, and how I perceive them. If you ever truly left, you would be sorely missed. That being said, I must disagree with your btw. The Rockets front office did not want Dream back, other than a farewell tour. They did not pursue him. When Dream told them what he wanted, the Rockets just didn't have that much money, although they found it for Rice. Trade leaks can cause allot of problems. But, in this case, if Rudy thought Dream would be able to play a key role, he'd still be a Rocket. We just wouldn't have Rice. Along those lines, the Rockets are commited to Ming, as long as he is of the most value to the club. Why is that so hard to believe? If a trade came along with a good deal more value, they would find a way to take it and not offend the Asian Communty. The Rockets care about who the fans want, and who Cat and Steve want. They cared about Dream to. It just won't change their decision. We think it's a sport. They know it's a business.
Smoke, I was talking about the Dream trade leak of what? 5 yrs ago, that fell through and Rudy publically said "I didn't know a thing." The city was furious. That was before I read the BBS, so surely more people have info. If the BBS was around during his early 90 contract dispute I'm sure there would have been massive rumors, too. to scoop or not to scoop. Dream trades and the #1 need a careful approach more than Cato and Langhi for Jamison...LOL! oeilpere, yesh, Game 1 if we get Ming. Otherwise, any is fine. ChenZhen, feels good, doesn't it.
heypartner- Sacramento should thank us for the "Dream" leak. Otherwise, Doug Christie would be a Rocket, and they'd still have Corliss "I'm not better than Kenny Thomas" Williamson, and no SG to guard Kobe. If they pull out this game 7...just think, not trading Hakeem a few years back got us a 45 win season, a year with the Lakers losing, and a #15 pick- not a bad busted trade at all, hehe. opie-Cuttino has already had nice things to say about Ming, like the day we got #1, he was hyped. PS-Why has Kelvin Cato not been available for comment on Ming?
