I guess 46% 17pts,7.8rebs,5.9 asst, and 1.6 blks from the 3 spot is not good for a 22yrs old. Yes he has had a bad yr with the bad wrist and ankle problems which is in our favor because it lowers his value, but anyone that has seen him play know that he's a versitile player that can do it all. How many players on the Rockets can you say that about? He can make himself fit and Rudy adjust. He doesn't have to wait for someone to get a ashot for him, he can shoot over any 3 in the league and albeit his to's were pretty high, he would be instantly the best passer on this team period. With Odom it would really open the floor up for everyone, plus it would give the Rockets something they don't have, a good big player. In crunch time , you can 1 up and 4 down and he can either get a real good shot or get one for someone else. If you or anyone else can't see the skills he brings already at the age of 22, then i can't say anything else.

great read cp. I never really believed that year suspension thing was a serious possiblilty. I don't remember reading anywhere about him in danger of being suspended for a year anywhere but by some posters on the bbs. And with the pot use that is most likely prevelant in the NBA, I don't see why they would have such a strict 3 and out rule.

Odom is a classic case of someone the Rocks should make a move for. The dude has so fallen out of stock right now. Remember the trades last year? Brand? SAR? I would trade the pick + a little more for either of those guys in a heartbeat, and I would do the same for Odom. Does he have his negatives? Yeah, but he has the potential to be one of the best players in the league, maybe even better than Stevie. So what if he isn't 1st team defense? He isn't a liability. And if Steve and Mobes wont learn to play at least passable d, our team isn't going to be too succesful anyway, no matter how much of a d stud we have at sf, barring Marion. And if you have good enough O, you can be a little lax on D, just look at the success at Sacramento and Dallas. Blah blah blah. I think going for Odom is a good move, but I wouldn't give up too much more than the lotto pick unless we got more in return.

I 2nd your sentiment, Crisco, especially the 'no one man will cure the Rocks' defensive ills...' sentiment.

You can bring in Bill Russell to play if you like, but if Steve & Co. are doing their best matador imitations and are only concerned with playing offense (a HUGE problem with this team), the defense would still be horrible.

Here's a thought: how about just obtaining a talented, versatile player, and let 'the chips fall...', so to speak?

So now, that the drug suspension thing is mostly out of the way, what's the problem?

The only one I see is the one everyone else sees. Can Rudy create a system where he'll thrive?

That's the only question. If he can't, and we don't make the playoffs, then his time would be up anyways. 4 years out of the playoffs? Not what I'm looking for in our team.

If the Clipps do have picks, they can trade them for suture ones. Maybe even package their picks with Maggette and Piatowski for Qyntel Woods?

Picks are cheap. Sterling won't mind them.

About Eddie, I must say I saw flashes of brilliance. But the same can be said of Robert Horry. Unfortunately for the coaching staff, I think we're all looking for a cornerstone rather than a 4th wheel.

Eddie's got to bulk up this summer. We should make that trade, and then look to trade Kenny for future picks to account for the 2 traded picks.

I REALLY hope the Rox go after Odom again. It's worth it.

How many so-called headcases must we bring in? Mo, Francis, Griffin, Rice, etc...

One reason why we may not have much team chemisty, is because our roster is loaded with guys who have had character issues at one point or another.

    Is Roy Tarpley still available?

Wow, you are right! Imagine that offense. Wow. Wow.

Oh, ya. What about defense? Will he get us to the next level? Will he get us to the playoffs? If the answer is maybe, then I would listen but I am not convinced that he will get us to the promise land.

On second thought. The offense would not be that much better. Rudy's teams hardly ever use motion. What good would a so-called great passer do in our iso offense? I know, maybe he could look sweet passing into the post.

Since everyone is waging war over Odom and Lewis, why not compromise and find a way to draft Qyntel Woods (if Ming is not available)? According to reports -- I've not seen him play -- he has all the best offensive qualities of both Odom and Lewis and he has been praised for his defense as well.
