Good for the Lakers. They needed him back in the worst way. Trading Ariza-for-Artest is one thing. Ariza/Odom-for-Artest would have weakened them severely, plus the FA market is depleted so replacing him would have been impossible. Now they Lakers have that bench x-factor back to match Manu/SA and Terry/Dallas.

The Los Angeles Lakers Reach an Agreement with Lamar Odom http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/09lakersagreewithlamarodom.html
Great. The Lakers retain their position as favorites for one more year. Let em have it. The Odom and Artest deals are too long. It's nice to see them close their Kobe era window after 09/10. They will regret having these depreciating assets on the books for so long, when everyone else is getting makeovers and passing them by. Just won't be able to watch ESPN next year, but I'm ok with that.
Yeah but they're in WIN NOW mode, they're gonna milk these last few years of Kobe's prime as much as they can.
exactly, if we had prime kobe now, we'd want to win now also. the rockets just gotta wait until kobe is past his prime pretty much...
The Lakers basically increase their chances in retaining the title. Odom does so many things and creates mismatches that would be a great option after Kobe. Without Odom, the Laker's front line would suffer. Great news for Laker fans
It was obvious from the start. The question was whether the Lakers themselves willing to give the money Odom wants. Oh well, it's not like the Rockets are going to do anything in the short run.
Until they find a replacement for Odom they would have to live with it. Not a bad choice after his contribution to the team this past playoffs.
No, we have to wait until Artest and Odom are past their 'primes', which I can't see taking longer than one season.
Odom is consistently inconsistent, but in this team he's gonna be No.3 option at best. Now Artest can share some load on both sides and if Bynum can play well like he once did. Odom can just relax and focus on his rebounding. It's not really that difficult. Everyone in the team knows their role.
Great. There is absolutely no point in watching the NBA next season, just hand it to the Lakers. This is getting ridiculous, not even the Chicago championship teams had the abundance of highly skilled talent as do the Lakers.
The rich get richer while the poor get poorer. The league is trying to revive rivalries to infuse excitement however what it really doing is creating huge discrepancies between team. Years ago a 42-47 wins will merit you a playoff berth but now it is lottery bound. The top teams keep winning and the bottom teams just goes through the process of playing out the 82 regular season games.
