You clearly have a vendetta against Oden, and that's fine. But a hypothetical question like that just makes you come across as ignorant. We have seen Bynum actually play in the NBA, especially during that stretch before his injury that got him a lot of recognition. Of course anyone would pick Bynum "today", but that doesn't prove anything about Oden's game. I'm not sure what you gain out of hating on an injured player who has a lot of potential, and seems like a genuinely good dude off the court. You would think Rockets' fans would know better, having Yao on our team.
See, this is the kind of ignorance and lack of understanding that is far too prevelant. Just because someone has a different opinion or a critical opinion of someone means there is a vendetta against him. One does not equal the other....... He has been touted as great, all I am saying is that I have never seen it....not in the NBA, but in college either...... No vendetta, just the cold hard truth. SHEESH ! DD
Can we say he's more injury prone than Yao? And I think he should've kicked it out more for open the 3s.Oden just tried to get his first NBA points but I think he over did it.
Yao has been in the league for 6 years. He got injured in the past 3 years that's true. But remember that in his first 3 years in NBA, he played all the games. But Oden?
I don't mind you linking to your Oden in college thread and arguing your point that he was overrated in college. What bothered me was you "proving your point" that he is a bad NBA player by comparing Bynum to Oden. I just think that's a stretch and kind of unfair, considering Bynum has actually played in the NBA. But mostly, I just respectfully disagree. Also, no Oden thread should be without this picture: Spoiler
True, But what's with all the young kids these days? Bynum and then Oden...Though Bynum didn't miss a full season and Oden did.
Good news everyone, lebron's father didn't break his hip! Blazers' Oden sprains foot in first game, will miss 2-4 weeks http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3671791
I wish Oden recovers soon and gets some playing time. I have to admit he looked like an older player during his 12 minutes of play. I almost forgot he is 20 years old. He said after the surgery he is not able to jump as high as he is used to, he also seems slow up and down the court. I hope he does live up to the hype and is not a bust like Sam Bowie or Kwame Brown.
He has put together two decent games in a row - he could be in Jayson Williams-esque form (minus the shooting people) if the trend continues and might average a double double if he plays more minutes.
His improvement is promising. He made me proud last Tuesday. First, he bumped back KG very hard and hit a jump hook over him. Secondly, he turned Ray Allen into a whining drama queen when he grabbed him out of bounds. I don't think Oden deserved a technical but it sent a message to the Celts. Other teams may follow the Blazers example to "hit them first". It's to the point now that Oden vacuums every rebound he's near. His outlet passing is improving. He doesn't completely disrupt the Blazers offense to become a part of it (i.e, Aldridge is no longer thrown off by Oden's presence). I think the Nuggets and Mavs game finally taught him a lesson about early fouls. Due to the surgery, I doubt Oden fully recovers this season (remember Amare). I think late this season and especially next season, we will get a better feel for how good he can be.
i hope the best for him the blazers are fast become my second favorite team and having more real centers in the league can only make it better. he has improved lately hopefully he continues to do so over the season. he seems to be a good guy and tries really hard to do well. i mean it must be tough the few games I have seen portland play at home the crowd roars and cheers whenever he gets the ball on the low block, thats a lot of pressure to do something good. he has to work on his footwork though, I've seen him get call for a lot of travels when posting up.
LOL - this is what you say when one of your rookie favorites sucks - "time will tell" - and demand that he be granted immediate playing time in order to make him better......Then when Oden is good, you imply it's a fluke and we need more time to determine whether or not he is a bust as you predicted.
