We heard the same thing back in 2002. Yao may have been the biggest question mark in the history of the NBA draft and with "sure-fire" guys like Dunleavy/Jay Williams to choose from, I'm sure glad we went with the question mark. You win some, you lose some. We still don't know how Durant will pan out so I think its way too early to say it was a bad idea. I'm a UT alumn and HUGE Durant fan and personally I would have taken him, but I also knew that you can't not take Oden. Sucks for Oden and the Blazers, but I don't think they would have made the playoffs anyways.
To chime in with everyone else ~ it takes 18-24 months to fully recover from major knee or ankle surgery.
"We heard the same thing back in" 1984 that was said this year. Portland had to take the big man Sam Bowie. Chicago got the guy who averaged 28 pts/game as a rookie, won 6 championships, 5 MVPs, led the league in scoring 10 times, etc, etc. I don't remember people saying Dunleavy was sure fire. A lot of people said that about Jay Williams.
I think the main thing for Oden up coming long rehab journey is all MENTAL. Amare and Kidd make it back 100% because they are fighters and warriors and they wanna win and get better. To me, that doesnt look very good for Oden, so far i see, he is mentally weak but who knows this incident will make him stronger and better. As i basketball fan, i wish him all the best and recover 100%. GOOD LUCK!
best news ever for the portland fans. With Oden out, they have a 1 way ticket to the lottary again, and maybe another top 3 pick. With a PG like OJ Mayo who seems to be NBA ready, OJ Mayo, Roy, aldrige, Frye and Oden. That group of young guns "looks" ready to dominate the game in a couple years.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...YF?slug=aw-redflags091307&prov=yhoo&type=lgns According to Wojnarowski, it was already well known that Oden had issues. Damaged goods? I seriously doubt he sustained the injury playing in 2 summer league games.
What happened in 2006? Everyone tanked not just portland. At least they didn't tank in 2007 when memphis and celtics were almost scoring for the other team. We tanked too so get over it.
the rockets basically had a deal in place to grab brandon roy but the blazers took him. i cant remember the deal or team it was with though.
Uhh blazers were the only team that didn't tank this season. Roy was trying to win every game up to the last. He even said that as long as he was on the floor he was going to keep hurting Portland's chances at the lottery. They played to win every game last season. They just didn't have enough and were too young. If there is one team that doesn't deserve this... it's portland.
