From what I've read it seems his college's system masked some of MJ's latent talent, so while people thought MJ was good very few expected he would be GOAT-level good. Also weren't the 80's the era of the big men? I would assume most people automatically thought a big man like Sampson will have a larger impact than an SG like Jordan. Oh well, considering the posts of the people here perhaps the Blazers did repeat history.
