Sad thing is he'll be toast next season recovering from this surgery. So it will end up 82 games in 5 seasons (410 games), or 20%.

He may not even get signed this summer.

SpearsNBAYahoo Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee Friday and will miss the remainder of his career.

    Fixed.

the hate for this guy from this board is amazing. can't believe this board can be so ruthless.

these injuries are not his fault and i really feel bad for the guy. he appears humble, works hard, and really wants to play. and now his career may be in jeopardy? i wish he bounces back and have a serviceable career.

truly a sad story. i always hate when players with potential lose their careers to injuries, esp. those who are early into their careers

A video of microfracture surgery if anyone is curious.

Word of caution: Clip of an actual surgery

Is any team out there adventurous enough to offer Oden 8 mill next year? If so, do you guys think Portland will even match it?

The fact he didn't get to live up to his potential as a player and that we, as NBA fans, were deprived of his talent is sad. However, I'm not sad for Oden. He's going to end up retiring having made over 22 million dollars. If he invested it wisely, he'll never have to work again. He's what? 22 or 23 years old? Not bad.

So yeah. He's a multi-millionaire and we've all seen him naked. There isn't much to feel bad for that dude for.

a lot of people think those money will be all fine and dandy. for most, sure. but i'm sure a lot of these athletes actually care about basketball and do want to show the world what they got. now they are deprived of that, it's like a part of their lives is taken away.

how can you go from playing ball every day to now not even playing at all?

I feel awful for Greg Oden. He has such awesome talent when he is healthy.

You would think Yao-land would'nt be so harsh when it comes to injuries from talented C's...
