October Video Game Preview Thread

Pretty much everything. Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle are among my favorite games of all time.

Psychonauts was really good, but the last level pissed me off so much I had to knock the game down a few notches. Pretty much everything leading up to it is outstanding, though.

 

I understand the frustration with the last level, but it's still my favorite game by Shafer. Looks like we have similar taste in his games.

I will definitely be going to Toys R Us on Tuesday (Buy 2, get third free) to pick up Brutal Legend, Uncharted 2, and a placeholder game which I'll sub out for Ratchet and Clank when it comes out on the 27th.

Was Assassin's Creed good? i was gonna do the toys r us buy 2 get 1 free this week. i need a wii fit board...and also thinkin of getting uncharted 1 and assassin's creed. never played either one.

 

Toys R Us is doing another promotion? Thats great. Good timing too with all the interesting games coming out. I wasn't going to get Brutal Legend, but the demo has me thinking about it. Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank are definites.

 

Will this buy 2 get 1 free apply to Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend tomorrow? I'm assuming so, but never can be too sure.

 

Its too bad that the games I want arent out yet...and Demon's Souls isnt sold at TRU. Therefore, other than Uncharted 2, there arent really 2 other games I want. I wish they would allow preorders.

You can buy two placeholder games, and get Uncharted 2 as your free game. As long as you exchange the 2 unopened other games for an upcoming game in their return window, you can get the game you want. I'm doing this trick to pick up Ratchet and Clank in 2 weeks when it comes out.

 

Yeah, I already bought R&C last week. Should have waited for this deal.

I was thinking of getting two games and selling the 3rd to Gamestop and getting credit on my gamer card. Just need to find out what game will have the highest resale value.

Don't completely understand what rezdawg and Scribo are talking about. The sale lasts through the 17th, so shouldn't you be able to pick up say Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, and Batman: Arkham Asylum under the buy 2 get 1 free deal on Tuesday correct?

Perhaps I'm just missing something.

I want Brutal Legend, Uncharted 2, and Ratchet & Clank. The first two come out tomorrow, but Ratchet doesn't come out until the 27th, which is after the sale ends.

So I buy any PS3 game that costs $59.99 as a placeholder, Uncharted 2, and get Brutal Legend for free. I don't open the placeholder game and take it back in 2 weeks. Then I exchange that game for Ratchet & Clank and get all 3 games I wanted at the cool sales price.

 

I want Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls (which Toys R Us doesnt sell), R&C, and Forza 3. The latter 2 dont come out for another 2 weeks.

Therefore, like Scribo said, Im going to just pick two random 59.99 games and return them later.

 

Ah. Great idea. I'm tempted to exchange my 3rd game for either Dragon Age or COD4 now that I think about it. Heck, I may exchange Brutal Legend and get both. Definitely something to think about.

 

Toys R Us by me sold out of Uncharted 2 in 15 minutes. I got the last copy.

Just make sure the game you want to keep is the free one, you cant return the free game. I did the same today, and the clerk warned me of this exception.
