The only other TES game I ever played was 3 (Morrowind) and I thought that game was awesome. I wouldn't put it as high as Baldur's Gate 2 on my list of favorites of all time, but it's definitely top 5 or so.
I'm putting together a new PC just for this freaking game because my video card and processor probably won't be able to handle it. lol. I wish they'd confirm a release date... I'll be ticked if it gets pushed.
It's rumored to be sometime November. Or at least sometime before Christmas. But they're keeping tight-lipped about it, so who knows.
Gamespot has a developer interview with one of the Bethesda guys that went on during X05. He said several times that the game would make launch for the 360, so I would assume that the Xbox 360 version would be good to go on November 22nd. I'm not sure if the PC version would be out at the same time though; I don't see why not, but then again, who knows for sure. I played TES II Daggerfall and TES III Morrowind (probably played TES I Arena, but I was REALLY young then). I loved both games, although Daggerfall is probably a little dated by now. Still, Daggerfall did offer some things over Morrowind; for example, it is bigger than any of the TES games by far, including Oblivion IIRC. If you can find it cheap, it is a great game to pick up, IMO. And I won't even get into how good Morrowind is/could be.
RC, you're right. Oblivion will be larger than Morrowind in terms of land, and Morrowind was puny compared to Daggerfall. Daggerfall was flat out HUGE.
I picked up SSX On Tour today, and there was a line of people getting SOCOM. Liberty City Stories is next for me, but for now, I'm Skiing and playing retro NBA Live 95 Rockets vs Knicks on NBA Live 06.
Ive slowed my gaming right now (Getting older I guess) and I still have God Of War, Ninja Gaiden and Doom 3 to finish before I look at buying any other games. The only game in the list I would go out and buy would be SOCOM. I loved the first two games and the third is supposed to be massiv.e I would probably wait untill the price drops though next year. At this stage there are two games that Im looking forwards to. 1. The Next GTA Game on the PS3. I think its just going to blow everyone away. The fact that GTA III stands up so well says alot about how good that series is. 2. Spartan: Total Warrior. It just looks awesome.
Since most of these games have been released (all except City of Villains IIRC), I thought I'd do a bit of a recap for them: PS2: SOCOM III Has a 85% rating over at Gamerankings: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/926538.asp?q=socom Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 Has a 81% from Gamerankings: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/924460.asp?q=Shin Megami Tensei Jak X 78% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927166.asp?q=Jak X Shadow of the Colussus 91% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/924364.asp Ratchet Deadlocked 85% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927167.asp Resident Evil 4 96% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925156.asp?q=Resident Evil 4 Soul Calibur III 85% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927089.asp Romancing Saga 61% (ouch!) http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/924486.asp GC: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance 86% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920189.asp?q=Fire Emblem Xbox: Stubbs the Zombie 79% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925151.asp?q=Stubbs the zombie PSP: GTA: LCS 90% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925776.asp X-Men Legends II (PSP version came out later than the others) 86% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927401.asp?q=X-men legends NBA Live 06 (again, PSP version came out later) 80% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928137.asp?q=Nba Live 06 DS: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 81% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925589.asp Castlevania: DoS 91% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/922145.asp?q=Castlevania Trauma Center 82% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/922120.asp PC: Age of Empires III 79% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/925735.asp COD 2 87% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/921995.asp?q=Call of Duty 2 F.E.A.R. 90% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920744.asp?q=FEAR Quake IV 83% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/531883.asp?q=Quake IV Black and White 2 77% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/535410.asp?q=Black White Multi: The Warriors ~87% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/919172.asp?q=The Warriors Blitz: The League 77% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/926439.asp?q=Blitz Battlefield 2:Modern Combat 80%-82% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920759.asp?q=Battlefield Modern Combat SSX On Tour 81%-84% (including PSP version) http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927717.asp?q=SSX Tony Hawk's American Wasteland 82%-85% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928083.asp?q=Tony Hawk Fable: The Lost Chapters PC 84% Xbox 87% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/929075.asp?q=Fable Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood 87%-88% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/926941.asp?q=Brothers in Arm So out of 28 games, the average "average score" is like 80%-81% (little higher w/o Romancing Saga and the best versions of each game). I'd say that's a pretty good month for games. I tried to keep the list to include only games released in October, so some of the late September games weren't included. The average score probably would have been even higher with NG:Black, FarCry, and some of those other games.
I've been playing the COV beta the last few days. It adds a lot of content to COH but basically it is just the PvP model for it. There are a few interesting changes. You can now build bases as a team and then collect artifacts that give your team boosts. Other teams can raid your base and steal your artifacts too. The one thing that is pretty cool about it though, is that your monthly subscription works for both games. So you can play as a hero or as a villian for the monthly price.
I'm not playing currently. They took the COV test servers down and will be starting the 2day headstart sometime today. i haven't played COH in a long while, but I was on the justice server when I played. Not sure what I am going to do for COV. My high speed service is out and I just found out it may be down for 2 more weeks so I probably won't activate my month from the game until I get it back and can commit to playing it.
You're right. And it looks like Civ4 was one of the best games to come out in October too (92% at GR): http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/919352.asp?q=civ 4 If I forgot about that one, I probably missed some others too.
Now that I am older, I am getting cheaper. Instead of buying just released games, I buy the ones that are several years old, search for cheap ones on ebay. Just picked up morrowind for $9. I can wait two years for oblivion.
I got Blitz yesterday. It is pretty fun but the football is not 11 on 11. What kind of football game is not 11 on 11? That will probably be my last XBox purchase as I need to start looking forward at 360 titles.
The 2-day headstart doesn't start until 12:01 A.M. (right after midnight) on the 29th. I do the same thing with console games. I'm old school, so the graphics and play of a two-year-old PS2 game seems great to me.
Thanks, as I said I am not getting any internet access at home and the COV boards are blocked at work. Kind of wierd that the 2 day doesn't start until the 29th but my copy of the game actually shipped today. I don't know if I will actually get in on the headstart, I can play on the servers at work but I don't work on the 29th or 30th.
I played COH on Justice too.. under my same screen name as here.. That game was like crack to me I couldnt stop playing it, then I got to level 20 something when I could fly and it lost it's luster and I quit shortly after.. Very fun game, but it takes soooo much time to level up and get the good powers..
