Yes that is what I am getting at. So essentially even you don't consider a free market as an absolute. Glad to hear it.

Emmanuel has also raised the ire of the group by championing a budget that will shutter half of the mental health clinics in the city and harmed many other social services. Today, while delivering a presentation on a new winter attraction in Chicago, Emanuel was confronted by Occupy Chicago. As the mayor was speaking, a cry of “Mic Check!” rang out, and protesters started delivering complaints about Emanuel’s budget and his attacks on free speech. The protesters also tried to deliver a petition requesting access to a public space to continue their 24/7 protest. Emanuel cut his speech short to escape the demonstration. ---------- So what have we learned today boys and girls? It ain't about the Ds or Rs
Incumbents and Populists? They've got a set of Republican waiters on one side and a set of Democratic waiters on the other side, but no matter which set of waiters brings you the dish, the legislative grub is all prepared in the same Wall Street kitchen." — Huey Long, campaign speech for the re-election of Senator Hattie Caraway (D-AR), 1932

If this kind of thing happens in London, Egypt, Korea, China or anywhere in Muslim countries, it will turn into a heated bloody fight. Here in USA, all they can do is holding camera and begging the cops. They wont listen.
What do you want them to do? Physically fight the cops? That won't help OWS at all.... Non violent protests are the only option. OWS is still gaining steam.

Shame on Bloomberg "As this movement has grown this has created an intolerable situation". A beautiful video. Will be shared

Me too. He should campaign against everyone that voted for the bank bailouts. Of course that would also mean campaigning against himself, but sometimes doing the right thing is not the easiest path.
Not sure if serious But by the time it got to The President he had a squirt gun in a forest fire, he had not choice but to pull that one trigger. There wasn't time, or the political will to fine tune the CEO rape out of it. It was and had to be written by the same GS guys. I would certainly like to see a special prosecutor take another look see at who got what wasn't legally allowable and let's send them to Country Club jail. But daaaaamn ,you think we could maybe write some laws so it can't happen again tomorrow...and that's Congress, K Street, and Wall Street. Don't harsh my Free Markets Bro'
Thanks for those words of wisdom. After having read your posts on these and other subjects on this BBS for many years, I can safely if there's anybody who knows about making hard choices, It's definitely you when you make that difficult yet courageous choice of typing out simplistic propositions for cataclysmic economic actions, abolition of reproductive freedom, and various other wingnut fantasy plans based on whatever cliche is closest at hand; necessarily risking the murderous slings and arrows of your fellow clutchfans. Courage, friend. Courage.
Actually, the students reacted in absolutely the most effective way: stay peaceful to highlight the fact that the use of pepper spray was completely unnecessary. Later, they congregated around the office of the chancellor (who had failed to condemn the use of pepper spray). I think the story was that the chancellor complained that she felt trapped in the office so the protesters opened a path for her to go to her car, informed her they will not act violently, and simply sat in silent protest. Here's the footage of the chancellor walking to her car. I think the image makes their point: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8775ZmNGFY8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now, the President of the UC system spoke out against the police action, the officer (Lt. John Pike) making the spray and the campus police chief are both suspended while the university looks into this matter. I think the students' reaction has been largely successful. Actually rioting and fling poo like monkeys wouldn't have achieved a better result.
Good Morning America! A message from Senators Durbin, Merkley, Schmer, Udall and Whitehouse We must put the American people back in charge of our democracy. If the Supreme Court refuses to allow Congress and individual states to regulate the role of money in our elections, we must amend the Constitution to change that -- and together, we are beginning the amendment process. The reason civil rights movement got so much accomplished is that they were nonviolent in the face of violence. Most people were apathetic if the civil rights movement didn't directly relate to their situation. Yet when the news showed violent police and police dogs attacking nonviolent protesters it painted a clear distinction and got people riled up. They then made sure congress knew it was something they cared about. Civil rights would have never got that the legislation passed that it did if the protesters reacted violently. Then they would have been seen as violent rioters, and trouble making criminals. That's exactly what the right wishes to portray them as now, so by remaining peaceful they didn't give the opposition any ammo. The protesters did the right thing, and it helped the movement far more than a violent push back.
Yep. The most famous, iconic, and effective protests of all time have been non-violent. It's not a coincidence.
