Green New Deal is good news for Republicans. Reason? "As it turns out, the Green New Deal has been around for quite a while; it is nothing new. So why is it only now at the forefront of American dialogue? The answer is quite simple; just three short letters. A. O. C. "In touting her signature policy, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) often reduces it to a regurgitation of progressive buzzwords and embellished analogies. . . . "The problem for Democrats is that the Green New Deal is not that vague at all. The left and their media allies have crowned Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the new face of the party, and she has put out a fairly detailed proposal, in writing, on what the policy should entail. Now they own it, like it or not." https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/424502-the-green-new-deal-is-great-news-for-the-gop
Who says AOC is speaking for me? She’s right about some things, has some bold new ideas, and also shows how she’s unseasoned and careless with facts that give way to undercutting her argument. The media power she’s obtained though is based on the obsession on the right. Not the left. Let’s get that straight. But the left is generally interested in letting some of these ideas such as the green new deal become household conversations given the historical popularity of economic growth plans and the overwhelming urgency of climate change. I also find it ironic that for 4 years now Trump has been excused by the right because “he’s just a NY real estate guy and that’s just how they talk” and that somehow is a plus to connect with the everyday working man, but heaven forbid a 29 year old bartender who talks like a 29 year old bartender suddenly is portrayed as the end of the world when she’s simply a freshman member of Congress. Not the president of the United States. We’ve obviously entered into a new world of politics. The right loves it when it suits them and hates it when the other side shows a hint of the same tactics. Go figure. She doesn’t speak for me and I didn’t vote for her, but I am all about discussing the issues she’s using her platform to bring into household discussions.
She is once house member out of 435 house members yet she is portrayed on here as the leader of the democrats despite not having any leadership roles. She has a lot to learn as she is very inexperienced and buoyed more by conviction and charisma - that's already 10x more than Trump. I don't see her as a force though - she simply isn't taken seriously by Democrats as she is on the fringe left, but she is useful primarily on the right as a rally point Most democrats don't know who she even is and she'd be a mouse in the zoo if it weren't for the right trying to prop her up and then tear her down with b.s. fake news like this: https://nypost.com/2019/01/09/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-bathtub-photo-debunked-by-foot-fetishists/
how Dems, mainstream media, and AOC herself manipulated the whole dance video thing into a "media invented fabrication." Pretty well documented. https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/...servatives-mocking-ocasio-cortez-dance-video/
oops, AOC forgot to provide workers comp for the little people are campaign violations an impeachable offense? asking for a friend https://www.nydailynews.com/news/po...ined-workers-compensation-20190110-story.html
That was right after her stunning upset. She's a socialist who has no power. The left doesn't have many populists like the right does. But the right is foolish, because the more they try to attack her and mock her, the more influence they are handing her. She has no power in the Democratic party - why does the right try to hard to give it to her?
Jonathan Tobin in the National Review, "Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and Omar Are Driving Democrats’ Agenda": "But liberals are deluded if they believe that conservatives are merely making straw men (or women) out of Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and their fellow radical Omar. The three women have already surpassed expectations about their ability to help set their party’s agenda. We don’t yet know how well they will manage the burdens of notoriety, but they’re already having more impact on the national conversation than any other political newcomers in recent memory." https://www.nationalreview.com/2019...ib-ilhan-omar-radicals-drive-democrat-agenda/
Once again, a conservative talking about how much more important AOC is than Democrats realize. How is she shaping any agenda? Or national conversation on what issue? The far left adores her but unlike the Republican party where the far right runs the party now, the far left is marginalized
