the congressional reporters heard it and reported it. Yolo said utter those words, after he had accosted AOC, who called him rude the chicken bleep Yolo continues to lie about it
which she turned into the fainting-couch high-drama much-heralded award-winning "Misogyny Speech" two days later
Her speech was actually very well spoken and not an attack on Yoho but more of a statement of how woman are treated (I'm guessing that what pissed off this author -- feminism!). That's my opinion. Yoho apologized for his manners. He said he didn't say those words directly to her (but he didn't refute the claim that he did call her a "fk... b****" as reporterS reported). He bought up his wife and daughters in his "apology" speech on the floor and that's what AoC claimed was why she decided to speak up, on the floor - having a wife and daughter, and i'm paraphrasing, doesn't excuse his actions and words. She said she let it go until Yoho speech on the floor. Also: https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/...-resignation-from-board-following-non-apology Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) resigned from the board of a Christian hunger organization after the advocacy group expressed disappointment in the congressman for his “non-apology” to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) amid reports earlier this week that he had called her a sexist slur. “We believe that Rep. Ted Yoho’s recent actions and words as reported in the media are not reflective of the ethical standards expected of members of our Board of Directors,” the self-described “bipartisan Christian organization” wrote in a statement Saturday.
only after the chicken bleep Yolo had lied about it on Fox News, that he did no such thing put on a drama show in the House chamber using his wife, daughters and religion as a shield / excuse for such bad behavior his fake apology was that he apologizes for AOC's misunderstanding of his words
I'm not defending Yoho, I'm criticizing AOC. If she can't stand the heat, she should get out of the kitchen.
True. However, the relevance of the distinction trumps the significance of the distinction in this context. She is predominantly talking as a hard core conservative in this case. And btw, I liked her initial attitude of 'b****es get things' done than this.
i am criticizing Yolo for his chicken bleep behavior and lying about it if he can't take the heat of reporter reporting on his misdeeds, he should stay out of the kitchen
For sure? I don't know. Nothing can be for sure. but reading thru that opinion piece, I did not see her opposing or supporting AOC/Yoho from a woman point of view. It has more principle/political alignment. As woman, she would have spent more time describing why what Yoho said is/is not misogyny, rather than attacking AOC for '1000 random things'.
Dinosaurs are a dying breed I don't care what your position on anything is but you have to admit her that testimony before Congress was goddam beautiful oratory. Set up, explained, justified
But she is standing for herself and all women (she handled the heat and pushed back, pretty beautifully in her speech IMO). Are you implying that she should just accept it and be quiet?
I'm not implying anything. The author of the op-ed is arguing that AOC's ostentatious exploitation of the alleged incident ("f**cking b****") is vulgar. I think that argument is worthy of consideration. I think AOC is playing politics with something she could just as easily have dismissed and forgotten. She is pandering to voters.
I don't care for the author. I was curious why you made that statement - get out of there if you can't stand the heat. Or was that the statement from the author and not from you? Maybe she is pandering to voters. I don't know and I'm pretty sure you don't know either. Our lens shape our opinion. But, the content of her speech is to me non-attacking and standing up for women. That's was the message. Perhaps not kill the messenger but debate the message? https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4894...tez-addressing-rep-ted-yohos-abusive-comments
I’m not exactly on @Os Trigonum ’s side , but I don’t believe that if you call a woman a b**** that it’s necessarily sexist . what if she was being a b**** ? I’m not saying she was either ... I’m not generally interested in who said what about who either . How many truly upstanding congressmen and women do we really have anyways ? What percentage of congress isn’t bought and sold by special interests or is more interested in helping people and working with others vs playing politics ? I’m more interested in that than what calling someone a b**** means . yoho didn’t say “she only got here because she sucked the right dicks “ Lemme pose a Q to the general public ...how many people have you called a b**** in your life ? What’s the approx ratio male:female (how many girls have you called a b**** vs guys) what did you mean by the word when you called guys a b**** ? What did you mean when you called girls a b**** ? I’d guess for me , maybe calling guys a b**** has a different connotation . I would generally call guys a b**** when they are wimpy , and call girls a b**** when they are being mean . But , I mean when guys are being mean I call them “dicks” or assholes . this is kinda turning into the team America dicks / pussys / ******* joke so I’ll stop soon , but imo all of those words are kinda used interchangeably. Unless we want to get into a deep conversation about the context and connotations of all this fine language... ima have to say that unless there is extenuating evidence , calling a girl a b**** doesn’t make you sexist .
