Boki started his move a bit too early -- like a two count? The Big O was ready to give a Big No to Boki. He'll learn (I hope as a playing Rocket...he (finally) seems to have some developable game).

Rileydog, your observations are much appreciated. Any comments on how Mobley can do better?

I almost started screaming when Boki went in looking like the Statue of Liberty (a la Julius Irving or Pao Gasol)... until the block of course. I think the main job of the SF in the NBA is to get those jaw dropping dunks that turn the reenergize your team or drive a stake into the opposition after a nice run (something we haven't had since Horry). Boki has a serious stride... the guy looks like Jordan when he is running full steam ahead.

    --------------

    1) About Yao in the high post.... I don't know why anyone would want Yao to move primarily to the low post when his shooting percentage can be the best in the league in the high post. Other than taking advantage of a particular mismatch or adding some variety to the offense, the high post really lends itself to the other strengths of the team.

    4) Sign JJ for an extended contract now. I agree he is great. It is funny that even when Rudy was coaching, the missing link was always the offense from the SF. Question: When did we play best under Rudy? Answer: When Walt Williams was playing well.

    5) The more the team improves, the more obvious that sort of play will become. I thought the worst example of the season was when he threw that smallish point guard to the ground after a play was whistled last week (can't remember which guy). Francis is still playing with a huge chip on his shoulder, and can't seem to stop lapsing into his own little world out on the court. At some point like the ones you mention, he completely disregards the rest of the team and draws a technical or a personal foul for absolutely no reason. All opposing teams have to do is "disrespect" him by putting a quick, badgering defensive player on him and his concentration is completely gone. Maybe the guy needs to get medicated for adult ADD. I'm pretty sure Cato's turnaround is partially due to medication.

    Great post Rileydog.

JJ has a 3 year deal with us. This was a good move by CD.

I love the way Boki dribbling ball down the court. He seems to glide an inch above the ground.

Wally haven't been the same since his injury two years ago. He's shooting is way down last year and he's playing behind Spree now. Wally is also a defensive liability so I don't see them starting Wally, Spree and Sam together. Although Troy Sam and Spree could be a devastating small lineup.

Rocket problem against Dallas is not the D, Dallas will score on anyone. But they also cannot stop anyone. On too many night, SF tries to take over the offense and start run'n'gun with Dallas. Rocket offense become one dimensional and SF usually turn the ball over 6 or 7 times which leads to Dallas Fast breaks points. If Rockets can consistently run their offense against a weak Dallas zone, Rockets should handle Dallas easily. Hopefully Franchise has figure this out.

I don't think Boki would have ever made it on the "blocked" dunk. From my POV (section 112) he was on the way down and the rim would have blocked him.

Boki would have never made that dunk. It's another example of him trying to do things too fast on offense. He picked up his dribble way too far out to leave himself in any position to finish.

Someone asked about how Mobley can improve. I actually have been very impressed with his play. He is a shooting guard. That's what he has been doing, with terrific efficiency. His shot selection has vastly improved and his perimeter spot up shot has been incredibly consistent. The thing that I like the most about his game now is that HE DOES NOT F REAKING HOLD THE BALL (ahem, but francis still does). Let's all give Mobley credit for again adjusting his game as required. As Yao demonstrates consistency, Mobley will again be called upon to adjust and to defer more to Yao. However, at this point, Mobley is an efficent option and is playing fine on both ends of the court.

I agreed, Steve has been in the league now for more than 4 years, the way he play still are street ball, ....... steve is not fit with Yao... for this team to be a championship team, steve evetually will has to be moved. may be even mobley as well.
Jason Kidd, Brant Berry are the type Guards that will fit with Yao .
