i don't know. they're meant to be connected in some way. apparently the beast master was originally a book published in 1959.
Harry and the Hendersons Batteries Not Included Killer Klowns from Outer Space (cult classic) Broadcast News Weekend at Bernies The Great Muppet Caper Mr. Mom Soul Man (C. Thomas Howell pretending to be black to get into law school) An American Tale The Land Before Time (2 of my favorite animated films in the 80's) Back To School (Rodney Dangerfied and the triple melon) Grease 2 Splash (Daryl Hannah as a mermaid) A Chorus Line Little Shop of Horrors (one of my favorite musicals) Club Paradise (w/Robin Williams) Scrooged (updated take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol) License to Drive (with both Corey's) Ghoulies TROLL (how can nobody have mentioned Ghoulies or Troll) OK, maybe not totally obscure but largely forgotten.
Some big time movies of my youth right here, hardly obscure. Splash. Man that movie used to trip me out.
What is scarier? The fact that I have seen every one of these movies listed here? or the fact I liked most of them? scary scary.
I said they may not really be that obscure but they're largely forgotten. When was the last time you saw Splash! on TBS? "Big" was a huge movie in the 80's and I think I saw it on TV the other day for the first time in 6-8 years.
Best clip from that movie: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UrYrhjcBSl4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UrYrhjcBSl4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Sticking to the general theme of most replies, I would like to add other obscure movies: Terminator Rocky II Aliens Cannonball run Breakfast Club
Anyone who mentions Up The Creek and D.C. Cab deserves an award. Best. Underrated. Movies. Ever. Up The Creek: "You're not at the bottom of the list- you ARE the bottom of the list!" D.C. Cab: "Why you tryin to close us down? Where's a cat like you at?" "If you had any education, you'd know that you don't end a sentence with a preposition." "Oh, OK. So, where's you at, a**hole?!?"
And for the 80's wrestling fans...No Holds Barred starring Hulk Hogan and Zeus (aka Deebo from the Friday movies).
Thank you for conveniently editing out the last line of my post. But you may need to rethink your definition of "blockbuster". Batteries not Included was #39 and Harry and the Hendersons was #43 in 1987 Weekend at Bernies was #39 in '89. License to Drive was #44 in '88. Hardly blockbusters. In the '80's, ET was a blockbuster. The Star Wars sequels were blockbusters. The Indiana Jones films and Beverly Hills Cop movies were blockbusters. License to drive, errrr not so much. I could list truly obscure movies but where's the fun in that if nobody has seen or remembers those movies. Nostalgia is part of the fun. Slightly less well known than the others I've listed: Rhinestone (Dolly Parton coached Sly Stallone on how to be a country singer) The Gods Must be Crazy Innerspace Adventures in Babysitting (mmmm, young Elizabeth Shue) The Dream Team (Michael Keaton, Christopher Loyd, Peter Boyle and Co. are mental patients on the loose in NYC) See, that's more fun. Movies people may have seen but haven't thought about in years.
very very good call young jedi. Diane Lane to this day is HAWT....she was flatout SMOKIN when she was young. Jim, I love that movie so much I actually paid 40+ dollars for a old VHS version. I captured it to digital, want a copy?
relax... i didn't mean it seriously. this thread has actually made me look up watership down. i'm watching now on youtube. here's the last line i edited out: "OK, maybe not totally obscure but largely forgotten."
