This year.... Usually they are the power house of FBISD because they have players that are so much bigger on the o-line and d-line. It's changed in the past 2 years though.
In the Cy-Fair district, we now have a 4-way tie for first. Cy-Woods just beat Cy-Ridge 49-40, improving their record to 6-3, 6-2 in district 17-5A. Ridge falls to the identical record. This was Woods' first win against Ridge, losing the prior 2 years. Earlier, Cy-Fair continued its revival as a program, shutting out Cy-Ranch 34-0 to move to 7-2, 6-2 in district. This Fair squad was a team that had won 1 game the past 2 years. Cy-Creek beat Langham Creek 44-30 on Thursday. They are also 6-3, and also 6-2 in district play. Next week.... the final week. We may have 3 teams sharing the district championship, as Fair takes on Jersey Village, Woods plays Springs, while Creek and Ridge play each other. The Cy-Schools play the Aldine/Alief schools in the first round of the playoffs. Anyone affiliated with those schools care to chime in with some analysis?
Elkins wins Zone A, District 23-5a. Beat Kempner 34-16. Plays Travis for District Championship. Both teams are in the UIL Playoffs.
The Super Bowl of Houston high school football is upon us.... Cinco Ranch vs. Katy for all the marbles in District 19-5A. Saturday, 11 AM at Rhodes Stadium. Katy could end up in the Division 1 bracket, potentially setting up a date with Euless Trinity in the title game. Wouldn't be far-fetched to see Katy-Cinco again with a spot in the championship on the line either.
anyone have a link to the number of students at each school? i'm guessing in 19-5a, katy would be higher than strake and memorial, but not cinco, seven lakes or taylor. if i read the scenarios right, one of seven lakes or taylor goes for sure and cinco has already clinched, so katy would be in division 2 regardless.
Here are the scores and the schedules. Also gives out the enrollment figures for the schools. 5atexasfootball says Taylor has fewer students than Katy does. http://www.5atexasfootball.com/schedules/dist19/ I assume you read the projections from the Chronicle. Seven Lakes win with a Memorial loss puts Katy in D2. A Taylor and Memorial win makes them the D2 representatives and would push Katy to D1. Ow, my head.
Some scores from tonight: Klein Oak 49, Klein 14 (Oak clinches playoff berth) Westfield 21, Dekaney 20 (Dekaney eliminated) TWHS 61, Conroe 20 (TWHS wins District 14-5A) Lufkin 63, TWCP 12 (Kingwood and Oak Ridge clinch playoff berths, College Park eliminated) Cy-Creek 22, Cy-Ridge 18 (Creek earns share of District 17-5A championship) Cy-Fair 30, Jersey Village 13 (Fair earns share of District 17-5A championship) Memorial 27, Strake Jesuit 21 (Memorial clinches playoff berth, sends Katy into bracket limbo depending on 7L-Taylor result) Dobie 34, Deer Park 13 (Dobie wins District 22-5A) Travis 42, Elkins 30 (Travis wins District 23-5A) Hightower 19, Bush 14 (Hightower clinches playoff berth) Pearland 62, Alvin 23 (Pearland wins District 24-5A) Barnburner of the night: Mayde Creek 67, Morton Ranch 30 Katy-Cinco at noon? God help us....
Prediction: the Lufkin Panthers will win the Region II State Championship (if they get assigned to Region II). I don't think anyone in the state can beat them since they returned their injured players. They are scary awesome.

Cinco Ranch escapes Lamar. They get a stop on 4th down to end the Lamar drive. Lamar's QB returned from a broken hand to guide them. 1 minute left, Cinco 27, Lamar 23.
Never mind.... Lamar has forced a punt and will get one last chance, but they have to drive 82 yards with 42 seconds left down 27-23.
