    Wrong.

    Bush 43 was Jimmy Carter 2.0, Republican-style.

And remember what happened after Carter...12+ years of solid Republican leadership.

You will see the same after Bush 43...12+ years of solid Democratic leadership.

    Deal with it....because it's coming.

Better (certainly not perfect) analogy is Bush-Nixon. But Obama's rhetoric is distinctly Carteresque (or Hoover-esque).

    I hear ya.

The comparison I made is in how distaste for Bush 43, just like distaste for Carter, is going to swing the pendulum clear in the other direction, and it's going to stay there for a while.

At least Carter had some amount of character. W has absolutely none of that and has let this country to massive deficits and inflation. Worst president of my lifetime.

Gee, that's what they were saying in '04.

And, incidentally, in no other time in American Presidential Campaign history had an incumbent party enjoyed two straight terms of peacetime and prosperity and NOT followed it with a near-landslide victory in the next term, until Gore came along. People were FAR sicker of the clintons than they could ever be of bush.

I wouldn't bet the farm just yet on my Nostradamus business, if I were you. Best wait and see and let the voters decide.

Every major influx of money into the economy, whether tax cuts or government spending, has led to at least short term stimulus. In terms of getting the economy going there are various strategies and tax cuts aren't the only way to go if stimulating the economy is the only thing you are interested in.

Talk about distaste for the Clintons all you want, but I believe that the majority of Americans would take Bill Clinton, with all of his womanizing ways, and the relatively peace and massive prosperity that he brought, and took, to office. We were not in the midst of an immensely unpopular war and a downward economy. Plus, we had consistently good Phil Hartman impersonations on SNL. Will Ferrell's W. was good, but the quality has not been the same since he left. Hartman > Ferrell.

I meant most would take Bill Clinton and his tenure over what we've gotten with George W. Bush.

    Sorry for the double dip.

Or have you considered that Gore was a poor candidate who had trouble inspiring voters and rather than campaign on the record of the CLinton Admin. chose to distance himself from it and still barely lost in the one of the most improbably elections ever?
That I would agree with you and feel this election is going to be much closer than polls now might suggest.

Hammond's Clinton impersonation destroyed Hartman's...but to be fair, at the time Phil Hartman didn't have as much material to work with.

How bush got re-elected I don't know. I didn't vote for him. Unfortunately we have too many stupid people in this country.

True, Hartman was at NewsRadio when a lot of Clinton things came to light. I always forget how good Hammond's work can be, he's such a chameleon.

    Yep!

Let's see? What was Clinton's approval rating at the height of the Lewinski scandal? I don't think W has seen above 40% in almost three years.

Anyway SWTsig I hear you about your experience. My sister lives in Lufkin and I get emails from her all the time asking if these things are true. She tries to have an open mind, but I can tell she has her doubts. The only thing we can do is try and guide them to the truth.

Jesus, but you've been posting some ridiculous bs. However, this is the cherry on the sundae.

    End-of Presidency Job Approval Ratings
    Bill Clinton (2001) 65%
    Ronald Reagan (1989) 64
    Dwight Eisenhower (1961) 59
    John F. Kennedy (1963) 63
    George Bush (1993) 56
    Gerald Ford (1977) 53
    Lyndon Johnson (1969) 49
    Jimmy Carter (1981) 34
    Richard Nixon (1974) 24

    http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/DailyNews/poll_clintonlegacy010117.html

George W. Bush's overall job approval rating has dropped to 25% as 73% of Americans say they believe the national economy is getting worse. Details from the nationwide survey conducted June 16-19 are available at The National Economy.
