If I could do that, I'd be a millionaire.

Never been the greatest fan of Apple's business practices, but there is no denying that this man profoundly changed the world of technology in many ways. Sad to see him go.

Such a shocker....so inspirational and left us way too young. The guy looked healthier than me, and I'm almost half his age.

    RIP Steve Jobs.....

RIP. I hope more innovators like you come into the fray. Perhaps a positive aspect of your death is that people will try to fill the enormous void left by your death

    Awesome salesman and businessman.

    Sad to see him go.

Even more sad considering he was waiting to die the last months at home.

“Tonight, America lost a genius who will be remembered with Edison and Einstein, and whose ideas will shape the world for generations to come. Again and again over the last four decades, Steve Jobs saw the future and brought it to life long before most people could even see the horizon. And Steve’s passionate belief in the power of technology to transform the way we live brought us more than smart phones and iPads: it brought knowledge and power that is reshaping the face of civilization. In New York City’s government, everyone from street construction inspectors to NYPD detectives have harnessed Apple‘s products to do their jobs more efficiently and intuitively. Tonight our City – a city that has always had such respect and admiration for creative genius – joins with people around the planet in remembering a great man and keeping Laurene and the rest of the Jobs family in our thoughts and prayers." -- NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg

I am sure my grandchildren will open up a book in class and read about Steve Jobs many years from now. I can already picture the force ghosts of Einstein and Edison looking over to their right and seeing Steve Jobs appear.

Great biography of Steve Jobs by BusinessWeek here.

    http://www.businessweek.com/news/20...t-valuable-technology-company-dies-at-56.html

As an aside, it is fascinating how so many of these great CEOs have highly egotistical personalities, to the point of narcissism sometimes. I remember a class I took in business school that talked about this very subject, Larry Ellison being a prime example (the common joke was that "the difference between Larry and God is that God doesn't think he's Larry.")

That was totally hilarious. "Reshaping the face of civilization". The cops must have been lazy and bored on the jobs and the coming of the touch phone and tablets must have help them from boredom.

    RIP.

I agree with DD. Jobs wasn't an Einstein in terms of originality of thought but he was a visionary and marketing genius who could see the potential of new technology and package them in a way that would be popular and easy to use.

I agree with casey; the Einstein comparison doesn't hold any water. I suppose Edison could be closer, but even that doesn't really sound right. However, Jobs (and Gates) are tech visionaries and innovators who helped push technology that has impacted the world and will continue to shape the future. I wouldn't be surprised if they are considered a part of our country's history decades from now.

You know, when our grandchildren will be opening their 'books' (hahahahaha) and classes on thin handheld tablets and working on projects on evolved Windows computer systems.

I get that you are a dude who can't put away the internet OS fighting for just a second to try and think about the real world, but that is neither here nor there. I'm sure that trolling will get you far, though, so...there's that.
