Amen! History will have a very favorable opinion of Obama (and the Democratic Congress that enabled him), especially given how effective he was out of the gate, how he handled cleaning up the mess of the prior administration, and then how he handled facing historical levels of congressional obstruction -- obstruction unprecedented in the modern era.
As much as I loved SXSW while I lived there, I'm certainly glad I won't be in Austin trying to drive anywhere today. What a f***ing mess it's going to be. The best referees in any sport are the one's you don't realize are even there...but they've been working their asses off the entire time. There was a lot of acrimony when Clinton was in his 2nd term (obviously) but he ended up being remembered as have a very successful administration. The same will go for Obama. Plus, he looks even more fantastic when compared to the candidates running to replace him...

Obama should have gotten Universal Healthcare. If he did that IMO he would have been in GOAT conversation for president.

I think that's true. Obama was a pretty awful president, but when you look at the prospect of Trump, Cruz, Hillary, or Bernie being president in the future, Obama doesn't look as bad anymore. They continue to lower the bar which only helps how bad presidents in the past will be remembered.
President Obama has an seven year record of dignity in the face of outrageous opposition. No one doubts his intelligence and resolve. He has a wonderful relationship and family. He is an inspiring orator, he has dealt with the national tragedies with true compassion, been strong on terrorism while reducing American soldier's exposure, short of gaffes, scandal free and has kept a sense of humor. I don't know what you want in a President but that works for me.
Seriously, the man was respected by the world, the only people who don't respect him are folks like cml, theresadagger, bigotexxx...essentially the tea party who think the man wasn't a u.s. citizen (even though he is by default since his mom, just like in ted cruz's case) was American. To me, what's scary is how deluded people in the tea party are, and how xenophobic they are. It's truly sad and disheartening that this great country still has so much hate in it.
