Russia is struggling in part due to oil prices, but it's substantially compounded by international sanctions and the inability of their banks and companies to access international finance markets. The massive ruble drop has cushioned some of the blow of dropping oil prices in the short-term. It's the combo of the ruble drop and the sanctions that has caused all sorts of additional problems.

Except that doesn't work unless the retention offer is permanent. Because as soon as oil prices go back up, we can just start drilling again.

It was because she dared to be a CONSERVATIVE woman and that the left has clearly shown they are terrified of and cannot abide.

So terrified that the only way she could seize on this fear was to resign from her post after less than one full term and do nothing of political consequence since.

Yeah so Joni Ernst (who you respect so much, you don't even know how to spell her name) ain't gonna make anybody forget legitimate rape, transvaginal ultrasounds, and all of the other indignities the Grand Old Paler's can't help but step in/crow loudly about - I suggest you protect yourself from the Hilltrain while you have the chance. The estrogen may cause you to grow breasticles.

Sarah Palin can barely spell 'conservative.' The idea that that half-term Governor could be in the White House is not only offensive, it's absurd.

You have to love the false equivalency the right always rolls out. George W. was treated unfairly according to them, while discounting the Iraq war (the worst blunder in my lifetime, by the way) that botched the Afgan war. While Sarah Palin was criticized because she dared to be conservative, not because she's was a totally inadequate and ill-prepared for the job. Yeah right...

And let's recap for the record that Commodore believes that governments should intervene in markets to put downward pressure on the price of oil and gas in order to further extraneous policy goals that he agrees with.

You know what would be more excellent comrade? A Five year plan to increase production! I can think of many effective policy tools to further this glorious goal of increasing state gas output!

give nancy pelosi (i would never vote for pelosi fyi) and sarah palin an all encompassing IQ test and see what happens. palin was a complete farce and if you dont know that maybe you should reevaluate a few things.

For the record, governments should work to eliminate existing policies that intervene in markets. Particularly energy markets (where such interventions have caused artificially inflated prices).

But please, keep telling me what I believe.

The Democrats have been pushing out much better speakers than the Republicans.

Sad that the Republicans can't find one good candidate that knows how to publically engage his audience.

Between Clinton and Obama, there body language and speaking styles are incredible.

That lady giving the Republican Response...I wanted to punch her in the mouth. I felt like I was in Kindergarten getting an adult lecture. I've never been made to try to feel so dumb by someone when, in fact, they sounded dumb. I can't stand Republicans and their snotty attitudes as they think they know the best way forward on everything with little to no compromise.

The exchange between Republican and Obama over the "not running again" comment was indeed juvenile. Republicans should not have clapped and Obama should not have stooped to their level with his comment about winning twice. It was a low character moment for both. Leaders don't act this way. Leaders do not have to "win" every exchange. It is a great show of character to not respond in kind to these types of taunts. Obama has never been around truly high character people. His upbringing didn't put him in these circles, and the crowds that he has associated with since then lack religious faith, have low morals, and are unscrupulous. Often people bemoan the fact that so many elected officials enter office wealthy, but there is a certain strength of character and sense of responsibility that accompanies being wealthy and surrounding yourself in these circles. Obama lacks these traits. In his behavior last night (and for the last 6 years), he often appears quite small and petty. Again, a poor leader. That's a huge reason why Washington is broken. You can't engage the other side when you run the type of campaign that he ran in 2012 and when you taunt people publicly.

Marco. Rubio. Far more engaging than Clinton, Warren or Bidden. I think you have to have personality to be president. See: John Kerry
