i agree with what you are saying. when bush was leaving office the country with out a doubt was in the dumps. and things have gradually got better. unless im missing something.

and for me the fact that gay marriage and legalization of a particular plant is spreading. for me the country is headed in the right direction.

if he can continue to not have us in full scale and needless wars im pretty happy with less violence and death.

a focus on education is what i would like to see in the next hopefully democratic administration. although i am NOT excited to see mrs clinton in the white house.

Anyone who resorts to name-calling and baseless bashing of politicians who are simply trying to do right by the American people ought to be ashamed. This is why I've realized the two-party system is irrevocably flawed. We achieve nothing through this media-induced partisanship that has brainwashed the masses. Let's stop the ruse of "good vs. evil" policies. The two-party system is an embarrassment and the lack of respect for presidents is appalling.

God, am I the only one who thought she was so generic? She didn't seem very sincere, although she'd do great on Faux.

I'm embarrassed and annoyed that the best the GOP could do was come up with the keystone job creating project... disregarding how minute that job creation actually is. As incompetent as Obama is it's clear the lack of cohesion and competency amongst republicans will lead to another democrat win next year. **shudders**

If the challenging party's response was held in the chamber right after POTUS, they'd have the same crowd noise and momentum; which would justify getting a prominent or stronger speaker. The SOTU response is always less compelling almost by design and would never be indicative of the represented party's strength or prospects.

I can't yet tell if the dependent care changes proposed will affect me positively or negatively. I like the dependent care spending account my employer offers, and can't tell if my income would preclude me from getting the same benefits out an expanded Child And Dependent Care Tax Credit.

However, the proposal below doesn't sit well with me. Surprised any politician would want to be responsible for cutting something so popular.

Obama Proposal to Cut 529 Plan Tax Benefits Meets Opposition

I don't think his own party would even support that part of the plan.

In only listened to bits of it but that was such an eloquent and articulate speech. This guy Obama is off the charts. No repubican president past or future is fit enough to lace his shoes or wipe his backside.

Leftists are liars whose first instinct is to deal with political opponents using campaigns of character assassination and the politics of personal destruction. Never is this more apparent than when a conservative woman starts to distinguish themselves, as Joni Earnst has been doing since November.

Of course everyone will remember the vile, extremely crude and blatantly misogynistic attacks by these people against Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign and for several years thereafter. Clearly that is the sort of thing we are seeing here in the early stages with Joni Earnst.

Each time that they do this, it becomes more obvious and less deniable by them that this is what they are doing, which diminishes the power of these smear campaigns. Just as also happened with the left's playing of the race card in the aftermath of the election of Barack Obama as president. It really does not work for them anymore.

Turn the lights on and roaches scurry for cover.

Didn't watch it but read the transcript yesterday. Very good. I particularly remember this as I recall so many of the "obama is playing checker while putin is playing chess" comments and altitude on this message board from so many of the right wing posters.

low fossil fuel prices are hurting Russia and helping the US

but Obama has never had low fossil fuel prices as a policy goal (quite the opposite), and has never implemented any policies to that effect

I don't know all the in and out of Russia situation today, but I think the American People appreciate the patient, non-reactionary, not going it alone, involving the international community, and a turly military-as-a-last-resort President. I can still hear the constant drumbeat of, we need more action, we need military action against Putin from the Right as if they haven't learn a thing about our impatient, going it-along and stupid reactionary military actions that got us into the mess just a few years ago.

Plus, I'm pretty sure Russia would be in a better place even today if they weren't so isolated. I'm thinking low oil price has nothing to do with their isolation.

The low oil prices today are like a Comcast retention offer, the Saudi's have to keep us hooked on imported oil for their long term security. If the US is energy independent with domestic production and alternative energy we aren't going to be inclined to militarily support and protect Wahabi Monarchy.

The smartest thing for US national security would be to put an import duty on foreign oil so it doesn't compete with domestic production and alternatives. It would also promote CO2 reductions so we aren't just foolishly burning cheap oil.

But the GOP never thinks long term.

Yeah, we attacked Sarah Palin because she was a woman. That's exactly correct. It had nothing to do with the bleating, mouth-breathed idiocy that came out every time she opened her mouth. Nope, nothing to do with that at all.
