The people who weren't paying anything before are a HUGE part of the reason that premiums are so high for the rest of us. Apparently, you are OK with people being able to freeload off of those of us who do carry insurance.
#1: People who voluntarily bypass insurance are generally healthy. They are LOW risk. The people who really want insurance are usually the sick ones. #2: People with Pre-Existing conditions or get sick without insurance still get health-care via the ER, which is 7-8x more costly to treat. ...and who pays for that? You and me. It is a myth that requiring insurance will raise premiums. Your buying into the brainwash.
He was referring to his conservative friends, not his own opinions. It's really easy for a lot of young people who have never had health problems and who don't have any relatives with health problems to take the position that nobody "deserves" health care. While for others, it's a basic part of living in a civilized society. I've had this debate with extended family members before. They say health care isn't a right. They say they have no problem with people spending their entire lives in the poor house because they were unfortunate enough to be born with some debilitating illness through no fault of their own. I'm also willing to bet that these same people would quickly make a 180 on that position if they had a very sick child.
really? So a responsible young adult who decides to receive a bachelors degree(which for most people is completed sometime after 21) or even further their education past bachelors doest deserve it? Did most of your conservative friends ever go past high school for education? Probably not and it makes sense that conservatives are the ones saying that since statistically conservatives are less educated than the left.
