You have proven your ignorance as did No Worries. Do you really understand the point of helping others? Do you actually think it is a liberal/progressive thing? Do you not realize you help others because you are already saved? You help others to help lead them to Christ through you because you are ALREADY saved!!!
Thankfully, based on your conflated view of "render unto Caesar" and the message of Christ along with the importance of works, we live in a SECULAR democratic Republic. Your slanted interpretation of grace vs. works has no place in the discussion of entitlements and the arc of the modern nation state in the last 300 years as it applies to poverty, healthcare and human rights. But please, feel free to call another Christian out for not being Christian enough for you. When you wear it on your sleeve and are quick to judge, expect to be called out. BTW--your avatar still sucks, BIGLY.
He is cute when he gets mad like this. Are you going with Jesus might have said that but he really meant something all together different?
I do not call out Christians based on anything I have said only what God has said in the Bible. Sorry you do not like the Cowboys but until the Texans prove they belong in the NFL I will still support them.
Again at times Jesus and the bible do say that giving to others would save you. Read 1 John 3:18-3:19. It says exactly that. James 1:27 also touches on it. 1 Timothy 6:17 - 6:19 Says that those that give to the needy will be storing up treasure for themselves in heaven. In fact it says that it is THE ONLY safe investment for eternity. James 2:24 say that a man is saved by what he does as well as by what believes. The verses leading up to that, also support that idea. Of course Jesus talks about it in Mathew 25:34 - Matthew 25:46. There is actually more, but those are plenty for starters. The idea that man can only be saved by saying that certain forgiveness prayer is mentioned in the bible, but the idea that it is the only way to be saved is from the church and not from the bible itself. On the cross when Jesus was next to the thief, and the thief asked Jesus to remember him to God, Jesus told the thief that the thief himself would be there. That thief didn't say the forgiveness prayer, so perhaps asking to be remembered to God is another way to be saved. In 1 Timothy the second chapter, Paul says that women will be saved through bearing children. It's in the bible. According to that, women don't need to say the forgiveness prayer. They just need to give birth. Jesus tells his own followers that they will be saved if they forgive others. There are numerous ways that the bible mentions will lead to heaven. Many people follow the church more than following the bible. They believe the only possible way is to say that magical prayer and nothing more. That just isn't supported by the bible itself, and even by Christ's own words. That being said, you are free to believe as your conscience tells you. But you're judgment of who will or won't be saved is only your belief. You don't have the power to judge others.
Why is it that Chrstians according to folks like CML want people to go to charities for healthcare (where they will likely die if they did that) but are happy to get nice roads, corporate breaks give them jobs, lots of dollars for schools and nice parks, lots of protection from the military, and big unnecessary walls? Why can't they get their stuff from charities?
The Religious right is Fake Christianity, they are about greed and power, not about being Christ-like. Jesus would have called them out for their hypocrisy. Fake Christians. DD
FB, you profess to be a Christian. You have posted many conflicting things here which I could argue each on their merits but instead I ask you do you believe they will save you? Is there anther path to God other than believing in him and the one he sent, his son Jesus, God in the flesh? Please point out scripture if you disagree. I challenge you!
So glad you think you know more than Paul. I am not sure if you are trying to sound ignorant or just ignorant? Ephesians 2:8-9New International Version (NIV) 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
DD, Please enlighten us on what Christians would have actually done? Should we call out a bad situation as good? Should we lie to promote the lie you call the truth? Do you really understand what it means to be a Christian? I hope so!!!!
I've long said that when you start quoting scripture in a political debate, you've already lost. Religion and politics have NOTHING to do with one another unless we're talking about banning religion.
According to the Jesus's own words there are other ways to be saved by believing in him as the one and only son of God who died for our sins. So since it is in the bible, what I believe doesn't really matter. But I have pointed out several scriptures already that back up exactly what I just said. But in a way the answer could also be "no" that is the only way. Because the bible says that God is love. Those that know love, know God. I think almost everyone knows love. Those that act on it, are showing they believe in that love (God/Jesus). They are following his teachings, whether or not they said that prayer or even call themselves Christians. Jesus taught his disciples only 1 prayer in his entire life. In that prayer he asked them to do on earth as it would be done heaven. So doing those acts is following Jesus's commands. In fact the emphasis shouldn't be on who goes to heaven and who doesn't. That's misguided. According to Jesus, we should focus on trying to make this earth like it is in heaven. Work on this earth and making it a more loving place. It isn't up to us or any other human to judge who will go to heaven. So it isn't really worth worrying about. What is worth worrying about is carrying out Jesus's message to try make earth a place like heaven. Honestly arguing about who is saved and who isn't, is a waste of time. Nobody should follow a life dedicated to peace and love out of fear of hell or the reward of heaven. What point is there to argue about that. Jesus talked much more about loving neighbors, helping poor, etc. than he did about heaven. Sometimes heaven and those other messages were all tied in together, but his time was focused on helping others. Again, the ONLY PRAYER Jesus taught his disciples talked about doing the works that make earth like it is in heaven. I look at Jesus's example of what he believes is important.
FB, you have just shown how lost you are. I thought different so I will pray for you my friend!!!!! TAKE CARE!!!
I'm not sure why following the words of Christ and the Bible make you think that I'm lost, but I thank you for your prayers. All my best to you as well.
Thanks for your best my friend, I give you mine as well, but I am curious, how many ways to Christ do you believe there are? How do we get to Heaven? How many ways lead there?
I'm 99% sure you are wrong in your interpretation of scripture. The most straight forward interpretation of Matthew 22:21 is that Christians should divide their concerns between the secular and nonsecular, with the latter being more important. OIOW Christians should be more focused on their relationship with God than making a political stand against the secular government, by not paying taxes to Caesar.
I'll explain myself then. You quoting the bible in an effort to justify political stances is no more valid than someone quoting the Quran, the Book of Mormon, the Talmud, or a Scientology pamphlet. I just don't see how any of that is relevant to political discussion.
