He can't actually legalize by himself. He needs the Republican Congress to play along, and they're allergic to agreeing with the President. The worst thing he could do for legalization is to endorse it. We'd be more likely to get a legalization bill he could sign if he first made a strong argument for continued criminalization. Unfortunately, he hadn't played things close enough to the vest to be able to pull a reverse psychology ploy on Congress now. Meanwhile, he can still use executive action to not pursue prosecutions for mar1juana cases in states where it is legal. That's your realistic best case until his presidency is over.
I hadn't heard that, but it is true.. He is very like Bill Clinton. More disciplined with his sex life, but his politics are indistinguishable. They both think they are strategic geniuses, but we have the most Republicans in Congress in 80 years or so. In reality they are both Wall Street Dems.
