Honestly, I think it's nothing. I don't think people necessarily believe all the specific mission statements of the churches they attend - just like people don't support all the stances of a party they support. I also think there's a lot in mission statements of churches across the country that can be scary, but they don't really act in that manner. If he says he supports some of that stuff or his views match some of it, that would be far more disconcerting to me.

TJ is a GOP elitist which means he probably has worse thing sto say about Huckabee than Dems.

    major,

He attends the Church, I'm sure he supports it or agrees with it, at least I hope he does. He doesn't come off as disingenuine about his beliefs, so I hope he attends the Church out of conviction and not just for show.

regardless though, I really don't see it as a problem. There are several issues within the black community that this Church is trying to concentrate and focus on. I really don't see the problem with that.

I know a lot of Christians that attend evangelical churches but don't evangelize, or that believe in evolution despite their Church saying the Bible is the absolute literal word of God. Many people simply attend the church that's closest to where they live - or where they have friends or where they feel a connection to the community or if they have a loyalty to the pastor or for any number of reasons besides being 100% lockstep in support of their specific doctrine.

Similarly, I know many people who are members of the Democratic Party and fully support the Democratic Party but don't agree on one issue or another. Churches are a medium - but ultimately the faith is the personal relationship to God, not the specifics of what the Church does.

It's a mega-church in Little Rock. I'd bet money that it has a lot of black members.

I understand why you feel this way, but speaking as a non-Obama supporter, I really don't see anything wrong with the mission statement of the Church.

the only way this may be a problem for some people is for people really want to make race an issue. any fool with any sense knows that this church is only trying to improve its community.

the notion that the black community is racist because it is trying to improve the black community has to be the most bassackwards logic on the campaign trail to date.

the black church has been the centerpiece and haven for blacks and civil rights in this country since its inception. to try to turn that into a negative is spin beyond belief.

I believe everyone, especially the topic starter is aware of this.
