Did you miss the posts immediately preceding your insult of the president?

Obama seems to be trying to walk a fine line, and doing a reasonably good job of it. We'll see how it plays out.

It could be that he was sworn to uphold the laws of the United States, whether he agrees with them or not.

Or you could go with that you're a Republican, so you must be a racist drivel you posted. Oh, nice with the "Merca"...I forgot that all Republicans are rednecks too.

    Geez dude.

Sure. If the people of Cali want to legalize gay marriage, let them.

    Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone.

Well then the gays will have to get married somewhere else until they convince more people in Cali it should be legal.

I think it should be up to majority of people in that state, Others would argue that it is discrimination to disallow it. I can see both sides of the argument.

No one is discriminated against by the legalization of mar1juana. Apples and oranges.

US is not a Democracy and that's nowhere near the definition of communism.

What I don't get is why the Ds don't get more behind ending prohibition of mar1juana. It's so easy to cast is as a racial issue - I bet 90+% of people arrested for pot crimes are black or hispanic.

They could win the minority vote for the next 30 years if they framed it correctly. Take a good first step towards ending the police state. The statistics on the number of Americans in jail are ridiculous.

Ditto for Republicans as a way to bridge the gap. It makes zero sense.

That's a weird bet statistically, but one way or another it implies that a crapload of blacks are either doing or dealing pot. Mandatory minimums probably split up enough low income black families that they indirectly contribute to low graduation and employment rates in the black community, but I have a hard time believing other blacks will be convinced that legalizing mar1juana will somehow help them socioeconomically; or that that argument wouldn't somehow steer a preponderance of non-blacks to the GOP.

There are a number of reasons, but the top two would be that they are just as beholden to the big money interests (prison guards unions, private prison corporations, alcohol corporations, the pharmaceutical industry, and others) as the Republicans and that they can't afford to be branded by the GOP as "soft on crime/drugs."

Not arrested, those numbers are more even, but 86% of those jailed for such offenses are black or brown.

The problem is that they already have that demographic sewn up, at least until the GOP actually makes real efforts to bring them into the Republican party.

    Please stop.
Federal law > State law. No matter which way you twist it. Tenth amendment vs. Supremacy clause. Look it up.

Also Obama made it pretty clear he's not even pursuing the issue; so stop making such an issue out of something that isn't an issue.

California voters also rejected Proposition 19, the Regulate, Control & Tax Cannabis Act of 2010.
