Well, the only thing he can do is sweet talk because he really doesn't have much to talk about. People are smitten by him because he is new. Usually when people gave you good impression at the first sight, it is more easy to fall for them. This is just human nature. That's why we had so many failed relationships because people dump their old significant other for the new one. Unfortunately I am too old for this type of thing, so I would rather go for a safe bet.
I was thinking about this and on a certain level there are similarities to Hillary derangement syndrome as Bush derangement syndrome. There is a key qualitative difference in that in regards to Obama supporters there is almost no difference on the issues and almost all on the personality. Where as there is a gulf between those who support Obama and GW Bush on issues. Given that Hillary Derangement Syndrome is something that has afflicted Republicans for much much longer than Democrats I would say that this isn't something new except in regard to it being Democrats. While Hillary Derangement Syndrome while hitting some Democrats hard full blown cases are seen more often among Republicans.
He has plenty to talk about including numerous bills sponsored with congressmen from across the aisle, well thought out policy positions clearly and usually thoroughly explained on his website etc. Because he is ALSO a good speaker doesn't mean he is only a good speaker. He actually has quite a bit of substance as well.
