instead of protecting an American who's life is in danger for exercising the first amendment, our government is detaining him for questioning.

They even leaked the filmmaker's name to the AP (who published it of course).

He had a shady background and his little movie has sparked an international crisis. A Q&A session with the guy seems totally warranted.

I agree with you that his name should not have been made public. How do you that a government official leaked it?

He is a criminal who violated his probation to go make a movie for a hate group that has initiated all this turmoil.

This guy is a criminal and committed fraud twice. Not sure why other people should pay for something he has instigated.

Oh, and it wasn't the government that leaked it, ABC broke the news first.

sorry for double post but it seems my last post was incomplete.

ABC traced his alias back to the organization where someone (anonymous) confirmed it was him.

Excusing all the content in the film, why does a fraud like him think he has the right to judge others? And from that indirectly cause harm to others given that everybody knows the loonies in mid east come out of hiding.

They should question anyone that might serve to bring those to justice who killed the U.S. Ambassador. There is nothing illegal or against the first amendment in doing that.

    Oh the irony.

And how am I immoral? The pieces of **** raiding embassies need to be shot on the spot. I've made that clear.

You do realize this guy also made it look like Israelis and jewish americans made it right? That is malicious and instigation that warrants some sort of punishment.

Weren't you also the guy that made it look like you cared about jews in a thread not so long ago to push your republican anti obama agenda?

Its funny how me and the majority of the people on this board think that many of the right wingers like yourself are lacking in moral principles yourselves and you come out saying stuff like this.

    Hirrrrarious.

ED MORRISSEY: Media endangers entire neighborhood to pursue thoughtcrime suspect.

Take a look at just the first minute or so of this report. Look at all of the media trucks in this sleepy little neighborhood, and not just KTLA’s. If anyone interested in taking revenge on Nakoula Besseley Nakoula wanted to know where to find him, it wouldn’t take long in this small city, especially with some media reports noting Nakoula’s distinctive front door. And while some people wouldn’t care about Nakoula’s fate, the kind of people looking to take revenge on him aren’t really known for their precision attacks and avoidance of collateral damage. This media swarm puts that entire neighborhood at risk, now and probably for a very long time.

And for what? Is Nakoula a serial killer? A child molester? No, he’s a man with poor taste who made a video that insulted some people who can’t deal with criticism, even the laughably inane and inept criticism of this 14-minute cheesefest that makes Plan 9 From Outer Space look like Citizen Kane. However, in the US, making really bad movies and engaging in even inept theological and historical commentary isn’t a crime at all. The media are undermining the same guarantees of free speech that allow them to operate without government interference, and they’re putting people’s lives at risk while doing so. They’re not going to be happy until there’s another crater in Cerritos.

Meanwhile, while the media provides moment-to-moment coverage of Thoughtcrime Enemy #1 this week, the feds are interrogating him as to whether his filmmaking might violate his probation on unrelated matters. . . . Here’s the question: would any of these people care about Nakoula’s probation status had the video not purportedly caused riots? If so, isn’t this pursuit more about the kind of speech in which Nakoula engaged than in what kind of activity he may have conducted with computers and the Internet? This is dangerous ground for free speech, and the media is making Cerritos into dangerous ground in a much more literal sense

I'm sure this guy said he was Israeli and that 100 jews funded his project to bring the gap closer between arabs and jews. He wasn't trying to instigate any sort of hatred as a thrid party bystander at all. Its hilarious how you pretend to care about something just to feed your racist obama hating ego.

Lol... The media is exercising its First Amendment right, same as Nakoula, same as Ed Morrisey, same as YouTube/Google. They can all say what they want, but it is rich to scream about Nakoula's exercise of his rights even though it provoked violence while screaming about reporters' exercise of their rights to free speech.

The First Amendment guarantees you freedom from censorship and most forms of government punishment for speech (with certain exceptions) but it doesn't guarantee you from, among other things, freedom from reporters or anyone else covering or commenting on your speech, or freedom from being investigated or punished from probation violation (involving the use of Internet, not content of speech).
