I don't care, and neither do the majority of the voting Americans......to get an abortion is not the governments business....nor is it yours. DD
I'm not sure if this is a serious attempt at defining the soul, but it is typical of such an attempt in that it is hopelessly vague.
It is not surprising to me that your thoughts are so shallow. The point I have been trying to make is it is NOT YOUR BUSINESS what a female does with her body. It is between her and God/her beliefs...not you......and especially not government. Give her the choice and get out of the way. As for Obama, I am voting for him...he is by far the best candidate for the job...but.....he is not my perfect choice....I would like someone that cuts spending ...and is more conservative fiscally, but at least he is honorable, unlike McCain. DD
I regret that your parents will not listen to you, I think you have a very good view of this. I am anti abortion and anti religious right... so here goes my opinion, Pregnancy is a very serious matter, it is giving birth to a baby. Without wisdom, love and responsibility there is great risk of disaster. There are many more men who don't want pregnancy than women, or at least it used to be that way in my opinion. (or it seemed that way when I was younger) So one issue that we face as a society is what is called unwanted pregnancy. Please understand that this issue must be treated separate from abortion. That term- 'unwanted pregnancy' does not necessarily mean that a woman does not love babies or childbirth. I find that personally not to be true. It would better be termed unexpected and/or irresponsible pregnancy. How many women get pregnant for the purpose of having an abortion? I think few if any. Under what conditions should a woman 'want' pregnancy? That should be understood. A woman who does not want to be pregnant has a responsibility not to get pregnant. A woman who does get pregnant has a responsibility to the baby. That is probably too logical for this discussion. So to address the issue of unwanted pregnancy will require much time, patience, love, compassion, education, more patience, compassion and education. In other words it will require more responsibility and that doesn't come easy. What comes easy is to avoid responsibility and come up with away around it. The second issue is abortion. This is a very separate issue from unwanted pregnancy. Abortion is killing an unborn human baby. It is murder of an unborn baby. That is why there is so much division and strife over the problem. People do not understand that getting pregnant and killing an unborn baby are two very different and separate acts. The connection between getting pregnant and giving birth or killing the baby is clouded by selfishness, irresponsibility and greed. Abortion is murder.- That is a hard place to land on this issue, but I am comfortable there, I believe those are babies in the womb. They are there to be protected and they are beautiful new lives. One person (typically a doctor) uses a procedure to kill the unborn baby, the mother has been convinced that it is not a baby or it is the right thing to do and so many mothers are victims also of the practice. I know many women who have had abortions and it is devastating for them. Mothers in need who unexpectedly find themselves pregnant need alot of our help and our love, not our condemnation. We shouldn't fight over abortion. We should work on the solutions to unwanted pregnancy and we must understand what we have become as a people when we don't give much thought at all that a little baby is killed before it is born. Until we use love to separate the issues so that mothers are helped and babies can live we won't get the right answer. We will take the easy way and we will have a $$$ abortion industry. All the talk about a woman's choice misses the two issues. All the condemnation and demonizing of woman by the religious right misses the point even further. I don't fault anyone for how they vote. Most people don't think about abortion very much. But I think about the unborn often. I wonder why we as loving people practice abortion. Are we so selfish and hard that we no longer sacrifice ourselves for love's sake. I love babies very much. Very much. I do feel strongly on this issue. finalsbound- love the unborn babies, it is good; and love the women who face this decision; they need us all. I write this with tears. rhester
did you even read the previous post I made regarding the Freedom of Choice act? probably not. I can understand if it's to revealing of who Obama really is, and just how far he's willing to go to earn a contribution. The FOCA goes way beyond what a women does with her body. Don't be an apologist.
I am sorry Rhester, I don't agree with you about Abortion, I think it is a woman's choice....and you can preach all you want about it, but it is none of your business. Where life starts, or more importantly where a baby gets a consciousness or a soul as you might say is not defined. So I do not share your beliefs on an abortion being murder.....and while I respect your position, I don't think you have any say in the matter of another human being and the choices they make, nor should the government. I understand it is a big loving issue for you, I get it......but it is still a woman's choice...and loving them is not an either or proposition, if they choose to have an abortion, they are still loved. And while you know woman devestated by the choice, there are many out there that Abortion was the right choice for them..... DD
Yes, I read it, and I still don't care, it is none of our business, it is the women's choice.....not yours, not mine, certainly not the governments.....it is hers. DD
I think the fact that there is a sizable disagreement about whether abortion is murder, while there is almost zero disagreement that killing a baby is murder, makes the argument for pro-choice reasonable and not this "disgusting" "murder" and all those other charged words being thrown about. I mean, I'm Catholic but I definitely do not agree with my religion on everything. We actually had this couple speak a couple of months ago in front of our congregation about this movement within the Catholic Church that believes using birth control is wrong. They feel that if it is God's will for you to have a baby as a result of intercourse, then you should let God's will be done and not prevent it through artificial means. What the heck kind of stupid thinking is that?
so you don't care if a woman decides to terminate a pregnancy at 24 weeks? do you know how a partial birth abortion is conducted? you don't care if a doctor uses a pair of sicssors to breech a child and partially seperate it from the womb, and then proceed to puncture the baby's(and it is a baby at this point) cranium and suction the brain matter untill the skull collapses? you don't care about that? thats what Obamas FOCA will allow doctors to do. Please tell me that you really "don't care" about that.
I know it is a woman's choice to walk into an abortion clinic. I know it is a legally protected choice. I wasn't even discussing that. How I feel about an unborn child is my business. I have five children. I have been asked by many women who had unexpected pregnancy for advice. They sought me out. I get people coming to see me about this issue. Pregnant people. I know happy mothers with happy children that are here because we talked about it, they made it my business. Maybe you have had similar experiences. I don't know how many women called you over the last 25 yrs. concernng this issue maybe more than me, but I am not concerned about your opinion if that is all it is. I deal with this on a real life level. Face to face with young pregnant teens. Two this year. I have watched several abortions on video. You maybe have done the same. I have talked to many women who have had abortions, maybe you have also. My sister who I love very very much had 'chose' two abortions that devastated her life. I was grateful to be a small part of healing in her heart and life, she now has three wonderful children. I respect your opinion also, but I would rather you think about what I said than react to it. I know you to be intelligent and well versed, but I am not sure of your experience on this issue. I wonder if 20 children say 3rd or 4th grade watched a couple videos of abortions, maybe a mid-term and a late-term. And we asked them if it is a baby what would they say. Children are smarter than we think. Forget about the soul issue. Forget about when is it a real baby issue. Forget about the term fetus. Just let the children explain it to you.
No, I don't care, you know why......it is NONE OF MY BUSINESS !!!! It is between her and her doctor and if you believe in it, her god. That is the point...maybe everyone that believes in forcing these girls to bring these pregnancies to term would not mind ponying up the money to raise them all.....as well. I mean it is only fair...right? DD
then why is a person charged with 2 counts of murder if they kill a pregnant woman? but a woman can terminate her own pregnancy legally with no recourse? I don't think it's stupid for people believing God's will should not be interfered with. But preaching it at a Catholic church, in that context, does seem odd to say the least.
Emotional sensationalism at it's very best. I hope you don't support cluster mines tearing the legs off Iraqi children or the purposeful segregation of health care between the suffering poor and the miserly rich, otherwise you must REALLY find it hard to sleep at night. :/
Great, let us know when God comes down and imparts his will...until then people will have to go with their own thoughts. DD
It's not about forcing a girl to bring a pregnancy to term. it's about a living child, with fully functional organs and nerves capable of feeling copius amounts of pain. but if it's about a monetary value, please DD, you are smarter than that. How much $$$ do you think the abortion industry makes per year? do you think lobbyist groups like Planned Parenthood and the ACLU are contibuting millions of dollars to Obamas campaign because they want to 'protect womens rights'?
