This has nothing to do with homosexuality or equal rights. Obama is doing something that should have been done a long time ago, and trying to take credit in the name of gay rights.

Its like you're trying to go out of your way to find a reason to bash Obama for this...

TBH, I don't know how Obama presented it. The press has certainly presented it from a gay rights angle.

And in the 1860s, Northern businessmen just wanted some extra non-union labor. But I's is free, so Lincoln gets his statue.

    more good news!

Judge strikes down Arkansas law banning homosexual adoption

Yesterday, a Circuit judge struck down a state law banning unmarried couples from adopting children or serving as foster parents. The measure amounted to a ban on adoption and foster parenting by same-sex couples, who are banned from legally marrying in Arkansas.

    The earth isn't round.

It should have been done a long time ago. Homosexuals should have been allowed to marry a long time ago. But the way things are, are the way they are.

Did this give homosexual partners more rights? Why yes it did. They now have more rights than they had before, so no matter what you say without providing any reasoning, it is indeed a step for equal rights.
