    Not quite.

The name can be whatever, but the program started under the Bush administration.

It makes no sense for you to focus on something insignificant like what it was called and ignore the relevant and more significant facts.

What you said is totally false. What I said is true. If you want to talk about significant 'facts' try learning them.

    both were "gunwalking"

The first known ATF "gunwalking" operation to Mexican drug cartels, named Operation Wide Receiver, began in early 2006 and ran into late 2007. Licensed dealer Mike Detty informed the ATF of a suspicious gun purchase that took place in February 2006 in Tucson, Arizona. In March he was hired as a confidential informant working with the ATF's Tucson office, part of their Phoenix, Arizona field division.[23] With the use of surveillance equipment, ATF agents monitored additional sales by Detty to straw purchasers. With assurance from ATF "that Mexican officials would be conducting surveillance or interdictions when guns got to the other side of the border",[24] Detty would sell a total of about 450 guns during the operation.[22] These included AR-15s, semi-automatic AK-pattern rifles, and Colt .38s. The vast majority of the guns were eventually lost as they moved into Mexico.[7][23][25]
At the time, under the Bush administration Department of Justice (DOJ), no arrests or indictments were made. After President Barack Obama took office in 2009, the DOJ reviewed Wide Receiver in September 2009[26] and found that guns had been allowed into the hands of suspected gun traffickers. Indictments began in 2010, over three years after Wide Receiver concluded. As of October 4, 2011, nine people had been charged with making false statements in acquisition of firearms and illicit transfer, shipment or delivery of firearms.[18] As of November, charges against one defendant had been dropped; five of them had pled guilty, and one had been sentenced to one year and one day in prison. Two of them remained fugitives.[23]

But those are misleading, as you are trying to deflect blame away from the Obama administration. Obama didn't end F&F upon inauguration, so he's got to own it.

This is an example of you trying to make statements with partial facts, rather than complete facts. You need to elevate your ability to reason to include complete sets of facts. You suffered from this very same problem in the Trayvon Martin thread and it made your logic appear immature and foolish.

I guess after those awesome kind of results , who can argue with doing it again but on a much bigger scale amirite? Wow, 6 whole people doing straw purchases. What a result.

so you're agreeing that wide-receiver is a smaller-scale version of fast and furious

If by smaller scale you mean, with the full cooperation with Mexico, with trackers on every gun shipment, with 1/10th of the guns, which when it failed to produce results the supervising official said never again, which use controlled delivery and not gun walking, AND DIDN'T GET A US BORDER PATROL AGENT AND A MINIMUM OF 300 MEXICAN CITIZENS MURDERED, the yeah, they're exactly the same.

All this care over 300 Mexican citizens, yet these same people have yet to condemn Bush for lies that led to thousands of brave American soldiers dying in an unjust war.

Posts like this are distracting and do not add to the topic of conversation.

You mean Bush and Obama's unjust wars, right?. He been CINC for about 35% of both wars (and he's bush towards 40% on Afghanistan).

    Cool, thanks!

I could post the images of thousands of dead soliders as well. I hate it all and this situation disgusts me as well. I'm just amused at the new found respect for transparency that has come upon some of our posters who don't bat an eye when this stuff is done when the person occupying the White House has an R next to their name.

Ron Paul calls for criminal charges against Eric Holder

Just days ago, CBS national news printed new details about Department of Justice operation "Fast & Furious." Internal memos show that agents actually discussed using the operation as a "false flag" to justify taking away the 2nd amendment rights of US citizens.

Congress is currently investigating Fast & Furious. Attorney General Eric Holder has already been caught making at least one false statement under oath.

Gun rights advocates have been asking why Republicans aren't calling for criminal charges against Eric Holder. Many have criticized FOX News for giving the story little coverage. CBS national news has been breaking most of the new details related to Fast & Furious. Recently Eric Holder yelled at a reporter at an event in DC. He blamed the media for public outrage over Fast & Furious, and told a reporter "you guys need to stop it."

Today, Texas Congressman Ron Paul became the first GOP president candidate to call for criminal charges against Eric Holder.

Speaking to syndicated radio talk show host Alex Jones, Paul called for Holder to be "immediately fired." Paul went on to say "I think it was criminal," and called the operation a "false flag." He said that there needs to be an immediate investigation into Holder himself, and said Holder "deserves charges."

Paul went on to discuss a now infamous memo from White House lawyers who claim Obama has the right to assassinate American citizens anywhere in the world. Paul stated that Obama is trying to "legalize Martial law."

Paul also mocked the FBI's claim of uncovering an Iranian assignation plot against the Saudi ambassador. He said the man arrested "may never be tried because they don't want the truth to come out."

Yeah! Ron Paul is the voice of moderation and reason!

The GOP is totally getting desperate here. What evidence is there that Holder has committed a crime? none. They have nothing.

This isn't about going after Holder, this is about embarrassing Obama. And Manufacturing a scandal out of nothing. They will find nothing, and nothing will new will be revealed. But they will create false controversy in an attempt to hurt Obama politically.

Frankly, it's going to backfire. Republicans have lost so much credibility. How pathetic is it that even with the state of the economy the way it is, and all the stuff Republicans whine about - Obama is still the frontrunner in the election?

I think that should make Republicans do some soul searching about their methods and the damage they are doing to both their own party and gov't as a whole.
