You are denying that the Obama administration put an end to the program?

There's no point in discussing this with you, because apparently facts don't register with you.

    Oh well.

I had to answer the telephone, so I had to edit to add my thoughts on that. So, I reinterate, the only reason the Obama administration put an end to the program is because of the embarrassing facts and their ties to the program. So, in answer to your question, I am not denying the Obama administration terminated the question. You are denying that they put the program on steriods because, IMO, they thought it would help them bring about gun control.

Heads have rolled. Those responsible for the decision making were fired. It is entirely possible and more than likely that this was a program that didn't go all the way up the chain.

The documents being requested are not about holding Holder accountable to what happened, but rather about how he prepared for the questions from congress.

It was a terrible idea, and those involved should have been punished. But not even Boehner is suggesting that Holder was directly involved in this program. That's not the issue here.

The issue is that Republicans are mad that they can't see the internal deliberations of the AG with the WH in determining how to testify and respond to the investigation. That's a totally different and separate investigation than
    fast & furious.

Fast & Furious is done, the culprits have been fired. It was such a stupid idea. Republicans aren't suggesting holder was directly involved (some are though, but not House leadership), they are suggesting that Holder has lied to Congress and that is the crime.

It's sort of like impeaching Bill Clinton for lying about sex after they found nothing on Whitewater. Did Holder lie about what he knew to the press. Perhaps, but that isn't a crime. Is it weird that a letter was retracted? Absolutely, but they did in the end retract it which means they realized it was incorrect and did set the record straight.

Is there anything here? No. Because Boehner was against pursuing this and tried to kill the investigation - he knew there was nothing here. This whole thing is a manufactured scandal.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. Are you giving Obama credit for ending a program that he and his attorney general claim to have had no knowledge of

Then why did Holder lie about it? Why did Holder transfer the major players and not terminate them? Why has he stonewalled the Congressional inquiries for 18 months? Why is Obama cloaking the investigation with executive privilege?

Yes, Holder closed the program but only under duress. Two murders of federal officers tends to do that. It's a pity most of the "mainstream" media has not been interested in the Terry and Zapata murders until now that the investigation threatens the Obama campaign.

Boehner was against this because it is going to make the Republicans look bad politically in districts where voters prefer moderates. He's afraid of losing the house because districts flip.

Grassly, who even Democrats have said is generally good in his role on the Senate committee has pursued this as well. They aren't trying to see the internal deliberations just for the heck of it. They want to see it because they believe Holder lied to Congress and they want to understand why and to what extent.

Glad to see Stewart taking Obama's administration and Democrats to task on this one.

I'm just stating the facts. The facts are that the program was ended under the Obama administration. I'm only pointing that out.

It was a horrible program started under the Bush administration and expanded under Obama's administration and then ended under the Obama administration.

    OK.

My goatee was started under the Bush administration, expanded under the Obama administration and has since been eliminated and regrown.

Just want to get all the facts on the table. ;)

Holder has acted weird. It seems like he found out about it and didn't know what to do with it and may have handled that poorly.

Did he lie to congress? Where did that come from? I haven't seen any accusation that Holder lied in his testimony.

It's clear that Obama doesn't want to release anything at this stage - something that will get turned around into a Super-Pac commercial and used to beat him up whether there is something there or not. So that's no surprise.

The issue really is that no one trusts the other side. Obama fears and believes Republicans are on a fishing expedition to try to defeat him in Nov. Republicans think this is their opportunity to get Obama in a mess he made.

The atmosphere is so poisonous that it really is just another form of dysfunction in our gov't.

One thing is clear, if we don't figure out a way for Dems & Reps to work together more this country is not going to fair well.

Holder originally told the Congressional committee looking into Fast and Furious that he only heard of it a week or two before his testimony. Whistleblower paperwork clearly showed he knew about it long before that, and Holder quickly recanted his original testimony, i.e., he tacitly admitted he lied to the committee.

With the Terry family going on the offensive, supported by ATF and Border Patrol whistleblowers, Obama IMO is pulling a Nixon and trying to hide the evidence in any way possible. Nixon tried to cover up a felony burglary while Obama is trying to cover up two murders. Congress was right in impeaching Nixon. They will be right if they impeach Obama. (As an aside, Congress should never have impeached Clinton. He deserved censure for conduct unbecoming a President but that is all)

I think you are going way too far in comparing Obama to Nixon at this point. Seriously? Congress can get around executive privileged if it is that sure that there is something there. It has been done before to Clinton in fact.

I have nothing against executive privilege. It's important in maintaining confidential oral and written discussion regarding foreign affairs and domestic policy strategy at the presidential level. However, it cannot be used to cover every facet of the federal bureacracy from Congressional scrutiny. By impeding the Congressional oversight investigation of F&F Obama has thrust himself into the realm of culpability.

Executive privilege cannot be extended beneath the Presidential mantle. Are you saying that F&F was a program that was sanctioned by the White House?
