Instead of laying blame, maybe conservative proponents could provide a plan they could impose to effect the employment rates.

(difficulty factor: tax cuts for the wealthy have a track record of failure for jobs creation)

It's hilarious; if you actually read what I wrote and understood it, you would have understood I was merely educating you on why the economic metric you are quoting ad nauseam is not a good one to use, and I proposed an alternative. You should be thanking me.

Don't let it stop your fun-ride misrepresenting economic statistics, but employment-population points a lot of fingers at that one time period of 2008 when everything went awry; a time period Romney's policies will return America to.

Now, go ahead and spam your out-of-context economic statistics.

We can't even fill the jobs we have. Immigrants are filling many of our high paying jobs (in part because our investments in education keep going down while other countries investments in education go up).

...so we could add more jobs but that doesn't mean Americans will fill those jobs.

So now we have too many jobs? *chortle*

and we should cut off immigration? *snort*

you liberals are so twisted around on this issue -- your logic changes by the day!

You asked a question and I answered it. Don't you hate when that happens?

If you don't want to know the answer, stop asking questions.

One of the reasons our unemployment rate is high is because there are not enough skilled workers to fill certain jobs (as illustrated in the provided chart).

Another reason is because reduced government spending has cut public sector jobs.

One of the reasons the number of people who stopped looking for work has grown is because the rate of retirees is growing.

Context just sucks, huh? I know, it's really hard for you, brah. Life was so much better for you when you were six and your daddy responded to all your questions with "because I said so!!" That answer is like wrapping up in a warm blanket straight from the dryer on a winter day, huh? I know. It'll be okay in the big boy world, maybe.

Do you believe those reasons make up 10% of the problem? 20%? 99%?

To use your logic, one reason why yesterday was so damn hot in Houston was because I farted, which added heat to the air.

    1. Stimulate investment in energy (not enact drilling bans and have the EPA cripple the economy through MATS and haze regulations). And not trying to pick idiotic winners like Solyndra. That was a massive fail, Obama.

    2. lower taxes for everybody

    3. Increase immigration, especially of those who want to start businesses. Give citizenship to people from other countries who can either purchase a house > $X or start a business worth over $ X. Loosen this from today's limits

    for starters

In January 2009 there were 12.049 million unemployed people in America.
Today, there are 12.749 million unemployed people.

    Per a CNN fact check:
"There's been a net loss of nearly 1 million public-sector jobs since Obama took office, despite a surge in temporary hiring for the 2010 census."

This means, if you increased government spending to regain those public sector jobs.

The answer to you question is the cut in government spending is responsible for {drum roll, please} >100% of the recovery of the unemployment rate.

Those darn pesky facts again. I bet you feel like Matt Schuab's ear right about now, huh. Sucks to be you.

Not that I would expect it from someone who can't tell the difference between exogenous and endogenous, but have you actually read economic literature---at any time?

    Yeah that's the ticket.

Oil and gas will already hire anybody that can pass a drug test. They just have to move to Carizzo Springs or North Dakota. Be sure to bring your own trailer and no kids because there isn't any infrastructure.

Taxes are at historic lows and the deficit is at an historic high, maybe you heard.

    High end immigration, ok fine.

So you've got about 50,000 jobs there, 1% on your way.

    12.049 (2009) - 12.749 (2012) = -0.7

    1 > .7

So to help you out, cause math is clearly tough for you, add 1 million public sector jobs back and we have fewer unemployed people than when GWB left office.

Are there any more questions you'd like to pose ...or are you bloody enough?

Notice it's tough to add public sector jobs using your plan since you want to cut taxes further (preventing more government spending). Unless of course you want to do both, cut taxes and increase spending.

BigTexx bobbing and weaving in the D&D reminds me of Ali with the rope-a-dope.

Except the outcome of this match won’t be so kind to the party employing trickery.

While we are at it, let me answer the 2nd part of your question.

What % of retirees make up the problem of LFPR question?
    Answer = 50%
    Link

The other 50%, per this article, is a natural consequence of an IMPROVING economy when folks re-enter the job market after a recession.

    Wanna keep playing?

I feel like I'm the neighborhood tom cat and your the hapless lizzard. With one leg and the tail bitten off, I let you go and gently swat you just to see if you move ...so I can pounce again.

    Your move, little lizzard.

And we used to have a balanced budget before the last GOP administration.

The real root of the problem is that we let corporate interest talk us into economic globalization with the false promise of cheap products.
The fact is, paying those low prices moves good jobs offshore and brings down the pay rate for middle class workers to the 3rd world standard. As the standard of pay goes down, the buying power of a high percentage of the population goes down, killing off demand. Throw in a housing bust that wipes out their savings and equity and you've ended their discretionary commerce.

If you can think of a way to restore $50K to the average American family's net worth or earning power then you might have a real solution. Other than that you are just spouting rhetoric. (I do not have a plan)

It's too bad bigtexxx disregarded this criterion, because this could have been an interesting thread. Instead, people are falling over themselves trying to take texxx's bait.
