With all due respect if you're blaming the media now your candidate is in trouble. If Obama wants to claim the front runner status and the annoited of the Democrats getting put through the ringer is part of it.

For that matter much of Obama's campaign hasn't been about the issues but has been about Obama and the idea that he can bring change. In fact even here on Clutchfans Obama supporters have said "his positions don't matter as much as him." If you're going to run a campaign not focussed on the issues and focussed on your own personal charisma you are goign to have to expect that you will become a focal point of media scrutiny.

    Any proof to that?

Did Clinton make Wright be Obama's minister for 20 years? Did Clinton make Obama have Wright preside at his wedding? Did Clinton tell Obama to not take a strong stand against Wright early on in the campaign?

Certainly Obama is naive, but just look at that past debate which clearly wasn't fair and focused on the petty garbage that fills politics.

It's fine, at the end of the day, it's politics and is more of a statement that Americans care more about image than substance. Hillary understands that and plays the game well. She should, it's been 16 years of "experience".

She won't solve our problems, but she will play the political game well. But I won't vote for her, no way. Never. She's wrecked the primaries and if she somehow uses her husband's clout to overturn the popular vote and primary delegate process, I'm voting for McCain for sure.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I wasn't blaming the media. I don't expect the media to spend an inordinate time on Clinton's baggage if no one's pressing it and I don't want them to. I was making the point that no one's pressing it which I think is not only fine but good. In the ABC debate, where 45 minutes went by before a single question about the actual issues (not including Obama's pastor, patriotism, serving on a board with a former Weather Underground guy and, briefly, Hillary's phantom snipers) was asked, every possible bit of Obama dirt was thoroughly examined and Hillary was all too happy to talk about it all and to keep each irrelevant issue alive after it had been addressed. When Bosnia was raised, Obama declined to hit her on it. This was characteristic of the entire Democratic primary.

I wasn't blaming the media for the fact that Hillary would enter the general hearing attacks the likes of which she hadn't heard throughout the primary, I was blaming Obama. Or, rather, I was applauding him. At this point in the campaign Obama has been hit with everything the Republicans will throw at him, and in the way they will throw it at him -- by Hillary and her campaign. In fact, I would be amazed if much of what they throw at him will not be in her own words and on video. Hillary has been hit with nothing similar from Obama (on her various baggage listed in my previous post). So the suggestion that she's been "vetted" and he hasn't rings a bit hollow to me. He's been thoroughly "vetted" by a very smart and very vicious political machine, the Clintons, and he's been "vetted" in ways so... I don't know any other way to say it but.... ways so Republican that I honestly believe John McCain will be a relief.

I am not one of the posters who has suggested that Obama's campaign is either (a) "not focused on the issues," or (b) "based on him" or on his "personal charisma."

But actually I don't believe anyone really believes those things are true. I believe they are paper tigers fashioned directly from the Clinton campaign's favorite talking points.

In fact, I have explained, in repeated detail, that my support of Obama (and opposition to Clinton) has a whole lot to do with this very thing -- with the fact that the change he seeks to bring has to do with not twisting the words of our opponents (in either party) or framing the bases of their arguments in ways intended to ridicule and thereby dismiss or misrepresenting their positions or creating confusion about their character or seeking to squeeze each drop from each superficial scandal in the interest of winning as he believes each of those things is both divisive and unnecessary and, further, leads to the cynicism that pervades our politics and suppresses democracy by leaving so many potential voters feeling, correctly, that nearly all politicians are lying scumbags.

But I've said all that a hundred times in a hundred ways and you keep telling me I just like him better or think he's going to save my soul so I really don't know why I keep typing.

Yes, Obama should have done this 20 years earlier. That's why his judgment is poor and he can not and will not be President. He sold out to the angry black church vote so that he could have a base in Chicago from which to launch his campaign.

This is going to the convention folks, as Obama is mortally wounded, yet unlikely to lose the pledged delegate count prior to Denver... This could go nuclear.

Obama-Backer McCaskill: Dem Battle For Congressional Support Effectively Over

The heated battle for Congressional super-delegate votes may be just about over, with Obama-backer Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) saying this morning that most of the roughly 80 publicly-uncommitted members of Congress have already said where they stand in private.

"The majority of super-delegates I've talked to are committed, but it is a matter of timing," said McCaskill, predicting that her candidate would come out on top in the end.

85 to 5 since super tuesday? Why do you distort facts so blatantly?
