This thread isn't about that, so I probably shouldn't have thrown that in there. I respectfully disagree with you about the AZ law, but I'll retract the accusation anyway. Where I do think it is relevant is that we have parties on both sides encroaching on Congress' turf because Congress won't do anything. I think we have too many chefs in the kitchen here, which is handicapping Congress' ability to lead (which often happens on controversial subjects in a democracy, unfortunately).

C'mon, I'm participating in your thread in good faith. No need to roll eyes at me. My point on Jenks, related to the chefs, is that there are populations of people who are so interested in this subject that a congressperson can't make a move without seriously pissing off one camp or the other, or both. When you have political groups on the side saying stuff like "outrageous usurpation" and "slap in the face to the American people" they polarize the discussion further and make compromise impossible. She's doing her part to maintain the status quo. She might help quash amnesty, but she'll also help snuff out real border security like this.

 

BTW no comment at all about the rate of deportation under the Obama administration? I mean not even an attaboy Mr President?

Serious question, as I have not really looked at this law with any depth. I apologize if it has been addressed.

What happens if I am a native born American of Hispanic descent that gets pulled over and can not prove that I am a 100% red-blooded American.

Do I get hauled in? ticketed? beaten with a hose? referred to OddSon for extradition? given a voter registration card?

 

If you can not prove you are legal, you will be considered illegal and would get deported.

 

Wow the cop that pulled you over for a traffic ticket has the power to deport you? That seems unpossible.

 

Why not, if they suspect you of being illegal and you don't have ID - then they can consider you illegal and send you to a detention camp to be deported.

Seems unlikely that you would not be able to first have the opportunity to prove your status.
