I'm suggesting that he is smartly setting Republicans up to be forced to defend themselves on the campaign trail about why they are against tax cuts.

They oppose everything, agreed. But now he's going to suggest something that they would usually claim to be for.

Not really. If you can find $500+ billion in reasonable budget cuts, then the two aren't mutually exclusive. However, in a little place I like to call reality, a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts will be necessary to balance the budget.

To be fair, we could get a good part of the way to that goal with budget cuts, ending the drug war would turn around the budget by nearly $100 billion all by itself, there is probably another $100 billion that could reasonably be cut out of the defense budget, index SS to chained CPI, means test SS benefits along with other, smaller cuts and you are probably at about $300 billion. Then, eliminate the cap on payroll taxes and go back to Clinton era tax rates and we could start actually paying down the debt.

You need to learn how to have a conversation without being unpleasant.

    Keep the D&D civil.

He is right though. If you had said, "In theory" they are not mutually exclusive then I think he would have no point to argue.

    ROFL @ the irony.

I'll start taking suggestions regarding civility from you when you begin engaging in intellectually honest discussions free from ALL disparaging remarks. Until then, you have earned everything I say to you.

Not really. Poor people are robbed more frequently, as they are easier targets and less likely to report the crime.

Edit: There are better ways of reducing the burden on low income families.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't some conservatives arguing for an increase on a tax on the poor about a year ago? Mostly commentators, but maybe some politicians as well.

Da Fuq? I thought Republicans hated the EITC which is refundable and thus instead of returning excess tax income back to the payer the treasury sends the individual more than they paid in.
