Getting better is a relative term. Obama doesn't need for the economy to be roaring like 1999 just that it is better than it was in 2008. I don't think that is a tall order. Again though its probably easier to predict the election than the economy and leaving aside the economy Obama has the advantage of incumbency and you cannot discount that the Republicans will put up a dud. Remember the Republican party's approval ratings are still lower than Obamas.
Thanks. Don't you find this sentence a bit schizophrenic? "But we would not enlarge any of the alleged president's features in a "racist manner" because we don't frankly give a hoot in Hell about his race." Alleged President? And I'm supposed to take this seriously? Why should I believe the intent of the originator of the image (if in fact it is the originator of the image), when the person doesn't even believe the President is an native born American?
Well, you also looked at an image that was rotoscoped and said it was bart simpson's face so what can I say.
That's probably what he meant, but that's not what it says. He should have written "president's alleged features."
And yet they still won 60 seats despite that. The economy is going to be lethargic for many years unless the ipad spurs in a new era of revolutionary productivity or innovation. And yes, if the Republicans put up Sarah Palin, Obama will get re-elected, but they won't. THey will put up a stronger candidate. McCain would be able to win if he ran again.
Not likely seeing as though he'll be 76 in 2012. But, you're right. It's not going to be Palin. She'll either not run or be crushed in the primaries. I'm hoping for the latter as it will likely mean the end of her political career. Everything she's done to this point has led towards an attempt in 2012. Assuming the republicans can find a candidate that can speak in complete sentences...wait...in republican land that is actually a negative...ok, one that is like McCain but 20 years younger, she'll get crushed in the primary and be gone forever. I hope they find that person.
I'm sorry. I know it's a serious topic, but I love that the thread has come to that sentence. Am giggling.
The American standard of living requires an economy that is creating trillions of dollars: Post War industrial export trillions, Dot com trillions, home market trillions, federal deficit spending trillions. We are accustomed to boom times but inevitably that is unsustainable; more so in the face of globalization and a lack of colonial exploitation. The people are in for hard times, the next boom is unforeseeable, government will be in crisis and flux.
