Very revealing how sadly status quo Obama is.

Michael Moore stated: "In history Obama will go down as the first Black president PERIOD..

Basically a place holder. It could have been worse.

Texxx, is this a distraction thread for the other Obama thread you created that turned out to be a distraction away from looking to deeply into Trumps ties with Russia?

Who gives a sh$%? Would anyone here turn down nearly half a million dollars to speak about economics for an hour?

Also.... he's not the President anymore and wont be again. There is clearly no direct "access" that wall street execs could really be getting from Obama since he has no power to create legislation that could help them out.

Even then...Here's the real (who give a sh#$ point):

How could Wall Street execs POSSIBLY be looking at what is happening under the Trump administration (pulling back Dodd Frank, de-regulations, tax plan, etc.), and say "Gosh if only we could get a democrat in office to make life better for us".

So the whole idea that getting favorability with Obama is complete nonsense.

*Side note - Good news for Republicans-

These speeches, and the fact that the Obamas are getting active in setting up a powerhouse foundation tells me that MICHELLE Obama has no intention of running for office. There is nothing at all wrong with an Ex President making money on speeches. There is certainly nothing wrong with a foundation like the Clinton foundation taking in as much money as they can in order to help areas around the world in Aids relief, community service etc. However these two moves would just give Right Wing media conspiracy theorists ammunition to go after Michelle if she was to run, and its a given that the BigTexx's on the right would eat this up as he's already doing even though again.... who cares, he's an EX President with the ability to give Wall Street execs zero access that they aren't already getting under Trump.

It is a big deal. Just like Reagan getting $2 million for a couple of speeches in Japan, (see the la times link from peleincubus above) at the very best it gives the appearance of impropriety and creates cynicism about the presidency and government in general.

Shame on Obama, but of course as a status quo guy comfortable with the Washington establishment he probably doesn't see a problem with this.

Strictly speaking it is not against any existing law, so I guess that is good enough for him.

Makes you wonder if this is just the beginning of Obama "being paid". You would think his $60 million dollar book deal would be enough.

Sheesh, Tten you have the Clinton-Obama crowd scolding many working class folks for not viewing he Dems as the party of the common person.

As Obama is a celebrity ex-president, he will make the most money of any president post election. Multiple book deals, possibly even endorsement deals.

He's not president anymore and doesn't have any influence on legislation or policy.

I doubt Michelle Obama runs for office. I doubt either of their kids run for office.

Honestly, who gives a shiet what that Kenyan Muslim is doing now? If he can make a few bucks, more power to him. What could the people from Wall Street possibly gain from listening to his drivels...how to redistribute their wealths? I wish the gay Indonesian would go away and let Mr Trump rebuilds this nation that the Hawaiian blunt smoker spent his last 8 years ruined it.
